Chapter 35 by BelleHades BelleHades

Watch their love bloom or skip ahead again?

January 19, 2027

As the Plutonian Empire slowly grew, taking its time to build more infrastructure, King Gene felt it was time to implement a national religion. Granted, religion was used and abused throughout history to spread war instead of peace, Gene nonetheless wanted to spread his beliefs about the way things worked, especially now that magic was openly used in public in the Plutonian Empire.

But on the day of the opening ceremony for the founding of the Temple of Plutonianism, King Gene felt weird. Almost as if someone of strange importance was watching his every move...

Thousands of miles away, in a struggling Denver, Amy O'Rinn was watching a live broadcast of the founding of a new system of beliefs. As local clean up teams have only relatively recently been able to remove the most dangerous of the nuclear radiation, Amy had moved back just a few months ago.

"And with great pleasure, ladies and gentlemen..." King Gene's voice was heard over Amy's cheap, WalMart speakers plugged in to her smart tv. "I hereby announce the opening of our first Temple of Plutonianism!"

A blue tarp is seen being dropped, revealing a temple of mixed Roman and Gothic architecture, with statues of faeries dotting the area, to the sound of applause. Amy smirked, leaning back into her blue living chair, joking to herself that the Plutonians were probably using an applause track, since the human population was still somewhat minimal. Amy crossed her arms as she mentally scrutinized the Plutonian King, totally glancing at his crotch on the tv every chance she could, absentmindedly licking her lips. Amy ignored most of the political and religious pandering, followed by a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Almost by reflex, Amy looked around to see if anyone would catch her, before remembering her mother and grandmother were still hundreds of miles away, having been paranoid about the leftover radiation. Throughout the entire broadcast, Amy could definitely notice the King's discomfort, and reveled in the fact that she alone was responsible for it, unbeknownst to him.

As the Plutonian broadcast drew to a close, Amy picked up her smartphone to browse what was available of the post-apocalypse internet. She immediately went to the official page of the Plutonian government, and sure enough, a brand new web page was available, detailing the newly founded religion. The first image to catch Amy's attention was the Temple's official flag. It was a lavender heart on a white background, with thick, royal blue stripes on either side. Amy immediately felt goosebumps all over her body, and shuddered in delight. She intuitively knew this was going to be a good read.

As Amy read more and more about the Temple of Plutonianism and the proposed belief system, she was astonished to find just how much Plutonianism aligned with her own beliefs. Plutonianism had an extremely liberal attitude to sexuality, promoted true ideals of love, free love, freedom of choice, and unity between belief systems. Amy's favorite parts, were the prioritization of positive mental health as well as the incorporation of Western Astrology and the religion's ties to Plutonian magic.

And just like that, Amy was hooked. She immediately made plans to convert, not realizing just how well her conversion would eventually work. However, due the increasingly conservative nature of American society, she also unwittingly sealed her own fate, paradoxically for her future benefit.
