Master Kim wastes no time in sending out her first pokemon, the notoriously fast and strong Hitmonchan. Uh-oh, that doesn’t look very good for Samantha. Or for you, when you face her next. Hopefully Sam has something up her sleeve…

Samantha sends out her first pokemon, a Pidgey. It seems pretty distracted, hopping back and forth without paying any attention to its opponent. Samantha looks pretty fidgety too. Maybe you should try to calm her down?

“Wow, a Pidgey? It has some pretty cool evolutions to look forward to! Where’d you catch it?” you ask.

“Oh, uh, I got it from a sweepstakes.” Poor Professor Stump.

Master Kim stands with her arms crossed and eyes closed. “Hmph. So you intend to capitalize on Fighting’s weakness to Flying-types, huh? Not a bad idea.” She nods, then opens her eyes, a fierce expression spreading over her face. “BUT I AM WELL AWARE OF THIS WEAKNESS AND HAVE TRAINED TO OVERCOME IT! HITMONCHAN, USE THUNDER PUNCH!”

A sharp crack fills the dojo as Hitmonchan’s fist glows a yellowish-white. It suddenly zips across the floor of the dojo, appearing to glide without moving its feet as it lands a direct hit against the oblivious bird-pokemon, KO’ing it immediately. Samantha shrieks as her first pokemon goes down without a chance to react. “Weak! That pokemon was not even fit for battle. Send out your next one.” Samantha squirms under Master Kim’s command, looking away from the intimidating woman. “I said send out your next pokemon. Do not waste my time.”

“I don’t have one,” Samantha admits. You were in the same spot not too long ago, so you can understand her pain. Maybe you should help her catch another pokemon after this.

Silence lingers in the air for a few seconds, before Master Kim breaks it. “You! Step forward and show me more of a challenge than your friend!”
