Chapter 79 by keron

The pitch meetings

You finish out the rest of the boring day fulfilling your duties as mayor and attending long meetings about numbers and bureaucratic red tape. The job is really not as glamorous as you had imagined, and you're starting to grow restless in your recent role. By the time you get home, you're too tired to do anything else, and fall asleep on the couch watching tv after getting some chinese takeout.

The next day, as you had instructed, Ashley has set up meetings throughout the day for advertising firms to come in and pitch you on a public relations campaign to promote the city's good work and hence your own image. The meetings are each 2 hours long and spread out, although the one you're most interested is the last one at 4pm. You wish your time control ring had the ability to make time speed up, but it can't, so you have to sit through many meetings.

Virtually all of the meetings in the conference room are the same, with executives coming in to pitch you on the same things. Billboards, tv ads, ads in the newspaper and subway, and other novel ideas. Ashley sits in on all of them to take notes. To be honest, they're all good ideas, and you could pick any of them to do the job, but you're eagerly anticipating the final meeting. When the time comes for that, Ashley goes to get them.

The advertising firm is called Propaganda Strategies, a little-bit on the nose for the name, but it is one of the most reputable advertising companies in the world. You're sitting alone in the conference room, making doodles on a notepad when Ashley leads the team in. The first person to walk in is a older, blonde woman in her mid to late 40s in a charcoal pant suit who reminds you of a young Morgan Fairchild. She introduces herself as Lisa Lowe, a vice president of the advertising firm, as she shakes your hand with a firm grip. You notice the gigantic diamond ring on her hand which must be worth a small fortune. She has a pretty good figure for her age, and when she unbuttons her suit jacket, you try not to stare at her enormous breasts, though they are difficult to ignore.

She then introduces her two associates. The first is a middle-aged man named Robert Downs. He's wearing a ill-fitting suit with dorky glasses, and he greets you awkwardly. The last person to step in is Kerry Fox. Lisa introduces her and you shake Kerry's hand, telling her how nice it is to meet her. If only she knew you two have been previously acquainted. She looks different in her business attire instead of her gym clothes, and you can tell she's trying to copy her boss Lisa with her black business suit and crisp white blouse, but she's still stunning nonetheless.

Ashley helps them set up, before the team launches into their pitch to you. Their approach is similar to what you've heard today, although they propose a much more aggressive online advertising campaign to target New Yorkers based on race, income, gender, and other factors, and you're deeply impressed. Even though you have an ulterior motive, this firm still manages to stand out from the rest of the pitchers due to their hard work and creativity. Lisa does most of the presentation, while Kerry chimes in from time to time, and Robert seems to be there to hold the charts and operate the slides.

"...And there you have it, mister mayor. That's what Propaganda Strategies can do for you if you hire us. Obviously, we know you're considering other firms, but I think we have the best plan that will raise the image of the city and your office. What do you think?"
