Chapter 69 by Shandy Shandy

How do you know?

Timing and opportunity

"Sure she did," Brian says. "She came in here while we were in town, and left her little surprise. You stupid fucking brat!"

"No Daddy I didn't!" she cries, sliding off the bed and kneeling in front of you, tears streaming down her face. "I didn't, I didn't I swear I didn't!"

"She couldn't have," you say. "I came up here to get her written confession and apology before we went to see Ms. Naylor and it wasn't done then. She hasn't had time to do it since. She's either been in our company or we've been here for all but a couple of minutes. It wasn't her."

Brian looks at you, considering your words, then nodding thoughtfully in agreement. He reaches down and helps Valerie to her feet, stroking her back and murmuring an apology. She bursts into tears of relief and hugs him tight, one had reaching out to grab your hand and squeeze it tight.

"I'm a good girl," she sobs. "I promised I'd be good and I didn't break my promise. Thank you for believing me Daddies, thank you so much."

"Well who the hell did?" Brian asks, looking at you in confusion.

You shake your head, your attention suddenly caught by a glint of metal on the floor beside your bed. Picking it up you find it's a thin gold chain with a pair of gold dolphins suspended from it. The clasp is broken, and from it's length it was meant to decorate a wrist or possibly ankle.

"Looks like whoever did this left this behind," you say, holding it up to show Brian. Valerie pulls her face out of his chest and wipes her tears away as she looks at the chain.

"I know who that belongs to," she says with certainty.

Who does she accuse?
