Chapter 2 by Masterdraven Masterdraven

Will Lillian take the job?

It's Not Worth It

Lillian crossed her arms over her chest and looked from the bag of gold coins to Ivy. She was the greatest thief in the city. Their was no doubt about that. She might even have been the greatest thief in history. But to steal from the High Lord’s castle was certain ****. All that had dared it had been killed. It was something that they longed for after the weeks of **** that the High Lord put them through.

“Ivy. Thanks, but I don’t think even I can handle the High Lord. I mean, even the King fears him and his tower. A bag full of gold coins isn’t worth the risk.” Lillian leaned against the wall. Half of her body became hidden in shadows.

“Their will be more gold once you get me the item.” Ivy tried to keep her demeanor calm, but Lillian noticed a glint of madness in her eyes.

Lillian eyed Ivy for a few more seconds. Ivy seemed to move nervously underneath her gaze. “Why is this item so important to you?” Lillian asked in a serious tone.

“It’s nothing. Just an object that I can use to my advantage.” Ivy’s frustration was getting more apparent. “If you will not help me then go! I will find a thief worthy enough.” Ivy waved Lillian away.

Lillian took a step back towards the shadows with her eyes focused intently on her former friend. She was different now with the years. Lillian knew that the object might have played some part in it. She also knew that if Ivy desired this item so badly that nothing good could come from stealing it for her. Without a whisper, Lillian was out the window and running along the rooftops of the city.

Crouching down on the ledge of a rather high building, Lillian considered her options. She could further search the city, perhaps find information about this mystical object for the sake of her friend. Or, she could venture out into the Forests of Adaja.

Where does she go?
