Chapter 24
by
The Archmaester
What's next?
Sieging King's Landing
With the Young Wolf, the Red Viper and myself commanding a united army, the Lannister-Tyrell alliance stood no chance. With my dragons in the sky, serving as reconnaissance, we were always prepared for every sneak attack Lord Tywin threw at us. On the way to the ruins of Harrenhal, Robb was reunited with Arya thanks to Sandor Clegane, the newest member of my Kingsguard.
Upon seeing my vast host, Gregor Clegane retreated from Harrenhal. However on his way to the capital, he and his men were ambushed by my dragons. Trying to keep fatalities as low as possible, my sister and I turned our dragons upon their supply wagons and set ablaze their escape routes till my cavalry arrived. The Mountain was captured alive much to the delight of Oberyn Martell.
Lord Mace Tyrell attempted to raise his banners but the lords of the Reach refused to be sent to a fiery demise. The road to the capital was cleared and I made sure that only Westerosi soldiers was involved in the siege.
During the first night, while the attention of the city's defenders were focused on the army entrenched outside their walls, Robb Stark, myself and ten of my best men snuck unseen into the Red Keep with aid of the former smuggler, Davos. I had used my abilities to conjure up the map of King's Landing and the location of the many secret tunnels that lies underneath ever since the days of Maegor the Cruel.
Melisandre had offered to kill all of my ennemies after claiming that my king's blood was strong enough to summon an army of Shadow Assassins. However I dismissed the idea of using blood magic and opted for the traditional approach. Using the cover of the night, we slew the guards patrolling the hallways and made our way to the Maidenvault where the noblewomen where hiding from the siege. The was a half dozen guards stationed in front of the great iron door but they were no match for my party. Robb personally slew Ser Ilyn Payne the man who executed his father on Joffrey's orders. Among the many inside the Maidenvault was Sansa Stark, the future queen Margaery Tyrell, Jeyne Poole and Mira Forrester.
Sansa teared up and embraced her brother and while no one was looking I obtained the allegiance of the others most notably the beautiful rose of House Tyrell. While we made our way back we came across a crossroads and I realised that one tunnel connects directly to the Tower of the Hand.
I could take out my greatest enemy. Tywin Lannister was diabolical and if anyone could even find a way to win the war against me, it would be him.
On the other hand, Tywin's iron grip was probably the only reason Joffrey did not do anything foolish when he saw my army at his gates. Killing him may end the war peacefully or it could even unleash the fury of the mad Joffrey.
Do you kill the Old Lion?
God's Apprentice
Or God's guinea pig?
A young man is gifted with the power of a god. What will he use it for?
