Hitchhiking

Hitchhiking was nothing something you did anymore. People weren't as trustworthy as they used to be. But, as much as her genetically engineered constitution was almost unexhaustible, she'd never be able to run that far. And walking would take her days.

So she tried her luck. She raised her thumb to the highway.
