On a secluded Ranch miles from anywhere.

You use the wifi in the hotel to get solid directions and send messages to explain your disappearance to your close friends and family, as you didn't know what the cell coverage would be like where you were going, although from what you could see from the maps, you doubted it was going to be good.

With that done you load up your luggage back into the car, and make an excuse to the guy on reception about a family emergency as you checked out. You're not sure the man bought your story, but then again the room was apparently all paid for so as far as he was concerened.

Soon you were back on the road traveling to some farm or something in the middle of nowhere, the sun was beginning to set and with it the already cold temperature continued to drop, as you warmed your hands on the warm air blowing from the cars heater. The journey was silent for the most part, neither of you had anything to say that seemed to matter enough to say outloud. The atmosphere heavy and glum as you traveled to see what awaited you both, only safe in the knowledge that it wouldn't be anything good, so bar the odd brief conversation about directions there journey continued to be silent until your arrived a few hours later.

You find a sign in the dark at the entrance to a trail that snakes up a hill between some thick trees. The sign read Hilltop Ranch, and was decorated with horseshoes.

"So is this the place?" Tanya asks as she looks around on the off chance she could spot any other signposts.

"Well the place wasn't named on any of the maps, but we followed the right roads, so it has to be it." You reply.

"Well then time to face the music." Tanya replies as she begins to drive up the trail, until you finally reached a large clearing as the road levels out to flat ground in a gap between the forest you drove through to get here. You see a large looking house, which was completley dark, and what looked like a barn and some stables which had the lights on and another car parked outside of it.

Tanya parked the car alongside the other vehicle, an unassuming pick up, as she turned off the engine and looked over at you. "I'm Sorry I dragged you into this Ellie." She says with a sad look on her face.

"It's ok, We'll get through this together." You reply with a soft tone, as you try your best to smile given the circumstances.

"Thanks Ellie, that means a lot." Tanya replies with a small smile. "Alright lets go find who's waiting for us and what they have planned." Tanya says with a deep breath as she pulls her jacket tight before you nod and get out of the car walking towards the warm glow of the stables.
