Chapter 7
by adaniels
Should Louise come in with him?
Probably not.
‘No, actually,’ John answered. He knew it was unwise to invite Louise to join him in the doctor’s room, considering the reason he was there in the first place. Doctor Harper nodded and John turned to his sister ‘Do you mind waiting?’
Louise narrowed her eyes. ‘You never did tell me why we’re here.’ John immediately recognised the plotting look in her eyes only a mischievous teenage girl could embrace. ‘And you don’t look very sick. What is it?’
‘It’s not important.’ John glanced at Doctor Harper, eager to get the aching in his privates examined and treated. ‘Come on, just wait out here, it’ll be quick. Right?’ he asked, turning to the doctor.
She hesitated but answered, ‘I’m sure we won’t be long.’
Louise turned to the doctor after eyeing her brother for a few moments, trying to read his thoughts. ‘Doctor, if I may,’ she began, her voice overly dramatic. ‘I think it would be in both my, and my… boyfriend’s best interest, if we went in together. Is that okay with you?’
John eyes widened at the lie, wondering what the hell Louise was up to. More importantly, hoping the doctor would see through her obvious ploy.
‘I’m okay with it if both of you are,’ the doctor agreed, obviously amused at the exchange. She turned her attention back to John, asking for his permission to agree.
‘We definitely are, right sweetie?’ Louise said, grabbing her big brother’s hand and holding it with both of hers. She stood on her toes to reach his ear and whispered, ‘I’m coming in with you, unless you want the good doctor to hear all about our little… adventure this morning.’
She leaned back down and smiled, somehow conveying enough innocence with her gorgeous features that John almost believed he had imagined what she’d just threatened.
‘Everything okay?’ the doctor asked. Louise turned back to her and nodded, giving the same innocent grin.
‘It’s just something I tell him to calm his nerves. He gets a little jittery at the doctor.’
John couldn’t believe the ease with which Louise spun the story, but he couldn’t manage to speak up to correct her, either. Instead, the doctor nodded and turned, asking the two to follow her back down the hallway into her office.
‘What the hell was all that?’ he finally said, whispering to Louise while the doctor walked in front of them. ‘Your boyfriend?’
Louise simply smiled, keeping her eyes forward as she explained. ‘You’re hiding something from me, John. You haven’t told me why you needed to come here, and you didn’t want me coming in with you.’ She looked up into his eyes. ‘You should know better than to try and hide things from your little sister by now. Especially when I’m so kind as to drive you this early in the morning.’
He looked forward, already trying to figure out how he was going to get around this situation. Another burst of aching reminded him that he needed to get whatever the problem was treated as soon as possible, whether or not his sister was in the room, but that didn’t mean it was going to be any easier or less humiliating.
They went into the doctor’s office, Louise closing the door behind them, and all took a seat. Doctor Harper tapped a few things into the computer on her desk while the siblings waited patiently behind it, John desperately trying to avoid Louise’s face, though he could feel her mischievous eyes burning a hole in his face.
‘Alright. So, John. What’s the problem, today?’ the doctor asked, turning to him. Her warm smile encouraged him to keep his eyes on her rather than his sister.
‘Well, um, it’s…’ He almost looked at Louise, forcing himself not to. ‘It’s… hard to talk about.’
‘Oh, John,’ Louise said, leaning over and putting her hand on his leg once more, this time slightly higher up his thigh. ‘I told you, Doctor Harper, he gets like this sometimes.’ Louise’s overly enthusiastic tone was apparently enough to convince the doctor of their ‘relationship’, but just for added measure, Louise leaned into her brother’s ear again and whispered, ‘you better tell her what’s bothering you. Otherwise… you know.’ Before John could stop himself, he turned to her and saw her mouth the word ‘panties’ behind her hand.
‘There’s really no need to be nervous, or embarrassed, John,’ the doctor said, her voice soothing. ‘I’m here to help, and your girlfriend is only trying to be supportive.’
He swallowed with the overwhelming nature of the situation, his teenage sister’s hand squeezing his thigh, the sweet scent of her hair wafting in the air around him after she’d whispered in his ear, and now the doctor calling her his girlfriend, telling him to speak openly about something he never thought he would have to in Louise’s presence.
Closing his eyes, he took a deep breath and just said the words, blocking out any other thoughts. ‘It’s… down there. The pain.’
The doctor’s eyes dropped to the region in question, resting there for a moment before she looked back to John’s eyes. He glanced at his sister beside him, expecting her to burst out laughing, or cringe in disgust, or even slap him for allowing her to unknowingly **** her way into the situation. Instead he was greeted by Louise’s eyes having followed the same path as the doctor’s, and she was staring at his crotch. Rather than the hostility he’d been expecting, his sister’s eyes seemed to have been replaced with something else entirely, something that resembled, he hoped he was misreading, excitement.
‘Okay,’ the doctor spoke, bringing both siblings’ attention back to her. ‘Well, let’s get you up and out of those pants. I’m going to want to take a closer look.’ John looked back at Louise, who kept her gaze steady on the doctor, though there was now no mistaking the eagerness in his little sister’s expression. ‘Where would you say the bulk of the pain is?’ Doctor Harper asked.
That's a great question.
