About half as good as they need to be.

The towel clad Lynn quickly walked towards where Joy was working on her suit, trying not to make eye contact with anyone else in the cosplay repair area. She needed that costume back, the sooner the better. When she found Joy, her friend seemed to be reworking the control box, and looking at different parts of the suit. The crotch of which, appeared to be propped up almost prominently. Joy seemed to having a slight giggle, probably at Lynn's situation.

"Joy, is my cosplay almost ready?"

Joy sat up suddenly, before looking at Lynn. "Oh!" she her lip and tilted her head left and right. "Yes and no. There's a bit of a problem," she said, turning to face Lynn. "You know how a current runs through the suit to keep it tight?"

Lynn nodded.
"The control box is too badly damaged, I can't get it to run under it's own power for very long." Joy explained. "I don't think you can wear this to the contest."

"What? No way! We can't give up now! We've got way too much work into this!" Lynn said. "Come on Joy, we have to do something!"

Joy thought for a moment, putting a finger to her lip. "Hmm... I might be able to modify the MEKA so it can power your suit..." She nodded to herself. "But here's the thing, only the top half of your suit is working. There isn't enough time for me to modify the MEKA and make the other half of your suit work."

Lynn kept her arms tightly holding her towel to keep it in place. She was blushing, but she still looked determined. "Well... if I stay in the MEKA, nobody will see how the suit's messed up down there, right?"

Joy shook her head. "It's more than messed up. The bottom half interferes with the circuit. I'll have to remove it entirely, you won't have this suit below the waistline."

Lynn was taken back by this problem. Joy could only make the suit work like it's supposed to for a short time if she wanted the full suit. Otherwise, she would have to stay in the MEKA, half naked, during the contest. However, Lynn's desire to win was still strong, she wasn't going to give up.
