Chapter 6

Where to next?

On the road again...

The following morning is heavily foggy without the Faervel’s’ sense of direction they may have decided to stay another night. Silence surrounds the three of them with no creature stirring as they walk blindly out of the Isengrimm Marshes. Jane talked about the Auria’s that came out last night to her grandfather. Faervel also agreed that it was quite astonishing to see such a rare creature.

Robert had slept straight through the event struggling to understand how it was possible. How two large slugs with a glowing point in front of their faces could be in such a strange place when there are no other exotic creatures in the region. Yes they were know for being seen near water, but they were more commonly seen near oceans then in a marsh. Joshua Springs who was near an ocean only a handful of days away had absolutely none in sight. Sure boats would come in describing them, but from far away regions of the continent and islands.

They trotted with Faervel taking the lead through the fog, Jane took middle, and Robert took the back. Once the conversation of the Auria’s had passed Robert continued to mumble to himself on everything he once knew about the Auria’s. Faervel and Jane ignored them discussing instead on Aric’s run and the beings that would be represented. Jane had only seen humans until she met Faervel, but knew of the stories of elves and such thanks to her grandfather.

The moment Jane had first seen Faervel on the streets she was unaware that she was an elf. Then she saw her again talking to her grandfather before entering. Gasping at the sight with the evidence that such creatures did existence surpassed any and all expectations she had imagined from the story telling. She is the most beautiful being that she had ever met even if she is her grandfathers age. It didn’t look she had aged past the age of 30, and yet her eyes seemed as if they had seen centuries.

By midday they spotted a tavern alongside the road. Hungry and in need of some rest from the journey they had only begun it was agreed to stop to find how much further they had to go to get to Aric’s Run.

Placing their horses in the stables a young maiden girl walks out of the back of the building to see the travelers. “Greetings travelers my name is Jynn Brockshire the house maiden of this tavern” She welcomes them with a cheerful smile wearing a white apron with a handful of stains and below is wearing a light worn blue dress down to the feet. She has blonde straight short hair that goes down just above the shoulder. Going barefoot in the house when she finished her greeting she slipped her boots on to care for the horses.

“Do you have maps toward Aric’s Run?” Faervel asks her anticipating a negative answer from her due the fact that Aric’s run isn’t somewhere humans often travel even this close to it.

“Oh yes, my husband is there now to deliver his crop for payment” Jynn responds surprising Faervel “Beautiful place been there myself a handful of times when my husband had been ill.” Faervel nodded and walked in knowing she was on the road to Aric’s Run. She dropped her hood to reveal to host her elvish characteristics. Jynn only mildly smiled at the fact she had an elf that would be visiting her place.
