Chapter 32 by Funatic Funatic

Well, chucklefucks, what now?

Sunday Morning Part 2 - Skilling and Testing

He might as well decide what to do with those 15 Stat points while he was waiting. He was tempted to dump all of it into Wisdom and call it a day. Standard RPG logic however taught him that if he got his first bonus at 25 he would get another one at 50. To get there he would need to put only 5 more points into Wisdom and still have 10 to spare. He nodded to himself, that sounded good.

And now his Mana Reg was 8,5 MP/Min, 9 if he kept the item equipped. Blessed be the god of mana. This meant the he could keep Possession up endlessly and still have 3 Mana to spare. He could try experimenting with double Possession now if he wanted to.

He had 10 more points to spent. ‘It would probably be wise to get up Strength and Endurance to 10’ he thought as he pondered over the screen. Sure, they would not be particularly useful in his combat tactics but Endurance raised his Health pool, which right now was critically small, and Strength allowed him to not absolutely suck in sports from now on. Yeah, it seemed wise to invest those 5 points there, it would also answer the question Rave had whether or not he could gain muscle mass by putting points in there.

THAT WAS THE TUTORIAL?! He would have died if it weren’t for Rave TWICE. What was this, Demon Souls? The rewards were pretty nice though, especially the extra inventory space. That aside he did seem to gain muscle mass. A quick check to his Bio screen…

…revealed that he just had gained 4kg of muscle mass. That didn’t put him out the Slim category but now he looked less bone-y.

Now for the remaining 5 points. He finally had enough mana regeneration for his main skill, he had a good amount of total mana as well and altogether his character seemed to flow together nicely. John finally decided to put the remaining points into Intellect so he could grab the 50 Bonus from that when he next levelled up.

With that done, and Rave still being inside the shower John changed the window to his inventory. There was his bag with the canned food (8 Slots), the quest reward (1 Slot), Two of the silver necklaces (2 Slots), and seven Ectoplasm (7 Slots). He would have had a lot more of the stuff if he hadn’t used it to regenerate mana while farming. Looking back he also should have used the Ectoplasm during that boss fight, wouldn’t have made much of a difference in outcome but would have been the smart thing to do. Oh well, now that he had skills to Create and Enchant he should probably value his materials more.

He originally thought about selling the necklace, now necklaces, but with Enchantment he probably needed something to enchant to level it so better keep them around and see what he could do. What he wanted to look at though was his quest reward.

He pulled out the object from his inventory. It was a beautiful diamond shaped gem of dark purple colour, about as long as his little finger and flat. John carefully let his thumb glide over the surface. It was perfectly flat, not a single imperfection. Time to observe the thing.

Living material attribute? If John hadn’t absorbed the skillbook yesterday he wouldn’t have been able to say what that meant with certainty. This way however he was able to affirm what was really the most obvious guess. Basically, using this crystal as a material in creating something he would be able to keep that something growing into better equipment. If he made an armour, for example, with this crystal at its core he could keep feeding it better metals and it would become more durable.

‘I really need to level creation in the future’ he thought and put the crystal back into his inventory. He could have gone over to Evolving a skill now but he got the slight feeling that that was something he should better do when he had some more time to think. So, he decided to try out the two skills he had gained from the book. After pulling out one of the Talismans he activated Enchant.

Okay, this looked easy enough. He turned ‘Only Show Best’ off for a moment and it quadrupled the list with lesser variants of the regeneration enchantments that costed less mana but also had even less of an effect, he quickly turned the option on again. Next, he clicked on 'Use items?'. The window that popped up informed him that he could consume one Ectoplasm to discount the Enchantment costs by 10. He currently had seven so 70 would be the max discount limit. He closed the window for now, it wasn’t of use. To experiment he selected Mana Regeneration, it went over to the left side and took up one of the Empty Slots. He had to reaffirm the action to another window and then three quarters of his mana vanished.

John clicked yes, called it ‘Experimental Necklace 1’ and hung it around his neck. A new window opened up.

Okay, so he couldn’t just stack tons of necklaces and their bonuses. Sad to see. He chose the old talisman as it had the better bonus. Well, then it was time to see what this power counted as Equipment Slots.

Okay, so that was the list. It was a bit saddening to not see shoulder pads in the list but this already gave him plenty to work with. Also, he would need to get an unbreakable enchant for his underwear ASAP, his balls were not a matter to be trifled with. Then again could he even become incontinent with Gamer’s Body around? Well, no way to find out (At least none he wanted to try) so better play it safe and get that enchantment.

He took down the new talisman and used Create on it to see if he could make a ring out of it or something.

Bummer. He placed the Talisman in his inventory and pulled out the other, unused one. This time Create was usable.

He didn’t have enough mana however. Dangit. Well, it would have to wait for later. He threw the talisman back into his inventory. A few seconds later a sound like a school bell echoed through the room followed by a female voice. “The mana battery is fully charged. You can now remove your hand from the device.”

That was helpful. He pulled his hand back and got up, rolling his shoulders to relax his stiff and newly formed muscles. Now, what could he do? He could either start cooking something, he was hungry after all, or start Ghost hunting on his own. There was also the option to surprise Rave in the shower.

Decisions, Decisions…
