Testing his powers at a movie theater

First thing's first, I needed to get a solid understanding of what my powers were and how they worked. As much as I wanted to run around and change things, I needed to know what my limitations were. For that, a quiet but crowded location, where I can make global changes but have as few people freak out as possible, would be ideal. With that in mind, I made my way towards the movie theater, deciding it was my best option.

On my way there, I assessed what I already knew. From what I could discern, the rings provided two powers. One which I decided to call the power of Normalcy, allowing me to get away with anything I want. Upon further reflection, universal acceptance would be a more accurate way of describing it. Essentially, anything I did would be viewed as normal behavior. I could urinate in public and no one would bat an eye.

Similarly however, that also meant I'd get no reaction from strangers. I could just as easily sucker punch the next person that crossed my path and they wouldn't even acknowledge me because it would be as though I normally go sucker punching people. It wouldn't even be worth mentioning. Since I was planning on using this power for sex however, this aspect wouldn't be as fun because my partner wouldn't engage with me. Maybe if I took the ring off, things would revert back to normal? This is why I needed time to test.

Which lead me to my second power - the ability to change normality. Arguable, this one was much more fun because I could change what was essentially normal in the world. In fact, I already did: it's now considered normal for a guy to greet a girl by squeezing one of her tits. Before, that would have earned anyone a slap in the face but now, girls seemingly welcome it.

Thinking on it, I also made it normal to talk about a man's dick size. I should really be careful with this one.

Still, further testing was required. Would the changes persist if I took the ring off? And, more important, were the powers restricted to a single ring, or did they require both to work?

As I arrived to the movie theater, this was my best bet to find out.

I walked into the building and, as expected, no one looked in my direction. While the theaters weren't terribly busy, it being a work day and all, there were still a couple college students roaming around. Looking around, realizing this was as good a time as ever, I shrugged while taking off the ring of my right hand.

Nothing happened. Or at least, nothing discernible. Had I just lost the power of normalcy or the power to change it?

Completely ignoring the ticket booth, I made my way to the clerk who validated one's movie tickets and made to walk right past him. I was so confident it would work I nearly jumped in surprised when he called out to me.

"Um... sir? I need to see your ticket before you can proceed."

Stopping in my tracks, I turned to look at him and half mumbled an excuse as I made my way back to the main lobby. Okay, so the ring I just took off handled normalcy. The ticket clerk looked none too happy with me either, so clearly everything had gone back to normal.

But did the other power work? Glancing around, I noticed a couple of girls sitting on one of the waiting table, no doubt killing time before their movie started. Seeing as the best way I could test my other ring would be to change their behavior, I mumbled quietly to myself the change I had in mind.

"It's normal for girls to find me considerably attractive."

Hey, don't judge. My end goal was sex anyway; I figured that would be a good place to start.

"Hey, did you noticed that cutie who just walked in?"

Clara looked up from her phone, her eyes following the nudge her friend Hazel had made towards a guy who was standing in the middle of the theater lobby. Immediately she noticed he was staring right at them and shifted her gaze back to her phone, not wanting to make eye contact.

"Oh my god, why is he staring at us?" she asked under her breath.

"I don't know but I like him. He's so cute; think he's single?" Mumbled her friend in return.

Clara suppressed a groan. "Really now? He's not even your type!"

Her friend ignored the comment. "A man that good looking has to have a big dick."

Clara's response was to roll her eyes. "You should go over and introduce yourself. You could ask while he's busy squeezing your tit."

"Nah, I'm perfectly content admiring him from over here."

Typical Hazel; she was all talk, no bite. Still, Clara was glad her friend wasn't making a move on the stranger. In the past, she'd always struggled with competing against Hazel when it came to getting a guy's attention and, well, she was tired of losing.

Especially when they were that good looking.

Well, it seemed to have worked. The two girls kept on stealing side glances at me while mumbling under their breath. And, I was even thrilled to see that they continued to behave the same way when I took the second ring off.

So not only did it seem like my power to change normality was restricted to the ring I held in my left hand, they also seemed to persist after I was no longer wearing it. I guess that meant that the power of normalcy was confined to the one I held with my right.

Putting it back on, I made my way back towards the ticket clerk, 100% certain of my hypothesis.

Sure enough, he never even spared me a glance as I walked right passed him and headed towards one of the theaters.
