* (Lie) "Charmander!" *

You remember the start of this game, Professor Oak's grandson "Garry" grabs the Pokémon you are hoping to get and leaves you with your second pick, thus starting your rivalry which doesn't end until you unseat him as Kanto League Champion. The trick to making your first Pokémon selection, then, is to pick the one which is weak against the one you ACTUALLY WANT, so that he is stuck at a disadvantage against your top flight 'second pick' when you battle at the Kanto League Championship.

"Well, if you really must know I'm hoping to get a Charmander," you lie.

"Oooh, that's rough, I think I'm one ahead of you and I was hoping to pick Charmander too. Why were You wanting a Charmander?" Your fellow graduate asks.

"Oh come on, seriously? It evolves into Charizard, a freaking DRAGON! Who wouldn't want to have one of those?!" You exclaim, only half lying this time. Charizard WAS a cool Pokémon, but in terms of sheer gym and league dominance what you really needed was Blastoise, the final form of Squirtle, which coincidentally was also the one Charizard was weak against.

"You don't know much about Pokémon, do you? Charizard isn't a Dragon Type, it's a flying/fire," the young man smirks.

Garry is already getting on your nerves. "I know that Garry! It's not a dragon unless you get the 'blue flame' mega-evolution: but Charizard LOOKS like a dragon from the legends of Europe, and that's good enough for me!" You retort hotly.

Garry is suddenly taken aback. "You seem to have me at a disadvantage; have we actually met?" He asks, looking at you slightly confused...
