Neither of the BB Brigadiers said a word. Clearly something had changed between them. Least of all, each of them had seen the other completely naked. It was the sort of thing that hung heavy in a person's mind, of course. Terri averted her eyes from Marigold. In all honesty, it was a little bit like running into an old flame at a shopping mall. How could it not be awkward? Those two people shared secrets that no one else in the world knew.
Well, thought Terri. No reason to let an opportunity like this go to waste. These X-ray spectacles were something spectacular, a real-life version of those old silly toys from the back of a comic book. So many preteen boys had spent their savings in the hopes of getting something like this only to be so very disappointed.
A devilish smile appeared on Terri's face. She knew this suggestion was very bad-- and if she hadn't just learned what Mari had done earlier today, she never would have guessed that Mari would go for it. But... peeping on the BB Brigade? Maybe innocent little angel Marigold was more daring than anyone could have guessed.
"I have a suggestion," Terri said. She kept her eyes on her feet. Neither person wanted to make eye contact. "I don't think spying on our mates is exactly peachy, as..." As much as I'd love to, Terri almost said. She reconsidered. "But maybe taking a look-see at someone else wouldn't be so bad, yeah? I mean, if we're just peeping, no one's any the wiser. It's a victimless crime!"
Marigold slowly looked up, somehow a little hopeful as she followed Terri's line of reasoning. It seemed that perhaps Terri wasn't about to rat her out to their friends in the Brigade. "Yeah," was all she managed to say.
"So," Terri said.
Mari waited on baited breath to hear her suggestion.
