Does someone have a new friend?

Self-Sustained Kinetic Discoveries

REVISED BY Vestiphile with permission from lrocks911

Brie cupped the blob in her hands. She had read the report on the missing sample, but this was something else entirely. Julie's polymer was...alive! She knew that another division was working on smart materials, but 'smart' was kind of an understatement considering that this ball of goo had just followed her command. She wondered if the memo wasn't being forthcoming about the details of this 'sample' it referred to. It wasn't just missing...it seemed like it had escaped from another lab!

For now, her equipment for generating more self-sustained cyclic exotic energy was kaput, but somehow her months of research happened to fuse perfectly with THIS amazing thing. If she hit her guess, the thing that snuck into her lab was the result of at least two MORE high-grade experimental inventions, one of them being Julie's polymer. It was so strange. It looked like some weird jelly/slime thing you'd find in a toy aisle, except that it seemed to be autonomous, mobile, and...intelligent. She decided to make the best of the situation.

"So if you are Julie's polymer, let's try something. Alright?" The thing seemed to wiggle against her hands, making some kind of happy-sounding burbling noise. Brie grinned and shook her head a bit as she went for it. She uncupped her hands and the blob dropped to the floor.

When it hit, it bounced right back up, higher than before. Brie simply watched as it kept bouncing, higher and higher until it started hitting against the tall foam-tiled ceilings. She quickly snatched it out of the air and laughed, holding it in front of her. The blob chirped and wiggled, excited at its newfound abilities.

"Oh boy." Brie mumbled. "You really ARE kinetic now, aren't you?" She looked at the thing with wonder. "The self-sustained cycle...it's still running inside you!"

She noted that the fusion had given the blob a much more greenish hue, along with its other abilities. As she examined, a thought crossed her mind. This strange little escaped experiment was the most exciting thing to come from all her work with exotic energy, and she wasn't about to let the other divisions have it back until she could at least talk to Julie and try to find out more about it.

Thinking quickly, she sat the creature on the table and turned to shuffle through the cabinets in the lab. She found what she was looking for: a glass canister with a gasketed steel top. Grabbing the canister, she turned around to grab the experiment only to find the table empty. Hearing a gurgling noise, she looked up to see the blob flying in excited circles near the ceiling.

"Kinetic doesn't even start to--"

Surprised, but even more excited by this development, she stretched up to grab it, stretching her tight white shirt and pants against her curves. Giddily floating through the air, the blob took notice of this, suddenly remembering something about its directives when it saw her cleavage. As she reached for it, the blob turned and sailed for her. It made a beeline for her bust, and just as it was about reach it, she held up the canister in its path. The slime slid right into the container, where she clicked the lid shut behind it. The canister jerked and wriggled in her hands for a few moments with enough **** to nearly throw her around.

"Hey, easy--easy! Just for a couple minutes, okay? I don't want you flying off and sneaking away!" She thought she was going to lose her hold, when it suddenly settled after she spoke. "Thanks. Just a few minutes, I totally promise. We have to show you to someone else." She gently placed the container on another workstation, and it seemed to watch her from inside as she quickly dialed up her partner's cellphone. "Julie, are you on lunch?" The voice spoke back. "Well, listen--meet me in 602-B, like, right NOW? Something very interesting has happened." A minor protest on the other side was cut off. "No, shh--listen. Your super secret polymer sample? I have it here...and it can, um...communicate?"

The voice went silent for a second, then finally said two words in tight staccato.

"I wouldn't lie about that," Brie said. "The smart-materials guys? I think they made it REALLY smart...because it was SMART enough to find my lab with the self-sustained exotic, and now it's, well--pretty freaking exotic itself." The voice on the other end more than acquiesced now. "See you soon!"

As she began to quickly compose a nonsense accident report to explain away the surge in 602-B, Brie eyed the container. This day just got a lot more interesting.

How much more interesting?
