Back to the Tribune

You go home and wash up before changing into some fresh clothes. You check social media and more people are starting to support your actions, whether out of fear or admiration. Making yourself invisible, you teleport to the White House and make your way into the heavily guarded Oval office where the president is meeting with some important looking people. Using the mind control ring, you whisper into his ear to instruct him to give you a pardon and also announce that you'll be acting with his full approval. That should call off the police.

Teleporting back to New York, you walk around downtown until you stop at a news stand and see the cover of the Tribune's evening edition. There's a picture of your calling card and the headline heralds your deeds as a wake up call for New York, thanking you for exposing the scandal involving the mayor. You're pleased and decide to pay the Tribune a visit. It's just a few blocks away so you walk there.

By now, you're completely emboldened and use your powers openly. Strolling into the lobby, you use your mind control to get pass security and head upstairs. You march into the Tribune's bustling newsroom where everyone is working on stories about The Ringer.

You walk straight to the editor's office, where her assistant Amanda is sitting at her desk near Laura's door. You hadn't met her the last time you were here, and she's stunning. She's African-American, and seems slightly taller than you. Her jet black hair is let down to just below her shoulders, and she has a very slim figure. Her skin is a light mocha with perfect complexion and high cheek bones. Amanda's wearing a white business jacket over a black crop top and matching white skirt. Her perfume is a sweet fragrance, and you can smell it even ten feet away as you approach the door. If you had seen her in the street, you would have thought she was a runway model, instead of the assistant of a newspaper editor. Her breasts look to be a moderate size.

"You can't go in there without an appointment," she says when she sees you reach for her boss's door.

"Sit down," you command and she does.

You enter the office and Laura is wearing a similar outfit as the last time you saw her. White button-down shirt tucked into a black skirt. She probably has multiple sets of the same clothes. She's speaking with a male reporter and she's surprised to see you. "I thought you weren't starting until next week? But if you want to follow one of the leads on The Ringer, we could use the help. As you can see, we're kind of busy right now with all the news. The president just announced a pardon for him and basically said he can do whatever he wants to. Good thing we've aligned ourselves with him quickly."

You smile. "Yes, good thing. Here's scoop for you," you pause for dramatic effect. "I'm The Ringer."

Both Laura and the reporter look confused. "Can you prove it?" Laura asks. You activate the teleportation ring and disappear before their eyes, reappearing in a minute carrying the Mona Lisa. Mia did have a point.

"Holy shit," the reporter says and he nearly fell out of his chair.

"Tell me an embarrassing secret nobody else knows about," you say to him.

"My wife is cheating on me with my brother. I think they both know I know, but they do still do it anyway," he says. Laura's eyebrows are raised in amusement.

"Go write a story about it for tomorrow's paper," you tell him and he leaves the office.

"So that's how you got those pictures of me," Laura mutters.

"Yes."

"And you have mind control?"

"Yes." You're happy to answer her questions as you see her work everything out in her mind.

"Why didn't you just make me give you a job? Why the pictures and the ****?"

"It was more fun that way."

"What do you want now? Why did you tell me your identity?" Laura asks.
