Well, what can you do?
Lying in the sun for a couple of hours might help you think...
Yes, that's a good idea. Lizards are supposed to enjoy it, too. Helps them think, or something.
You head up to the roof of your clan's home to sunbathe. It's not something the "heroes" would enjoy, it being forty degrees up there, but you're cold blooded, so it's quite relaxing, just lying there and soaking up the sun. You don't know why you haven't tried it before, even with the constant threat of rampaging adventurers there are still whole days where nothing happens.
You pick up a buff from it, too:
Sun-Soaked: Bonuses to casting speed/spell mana cost. Requires an hour reclining in the sun, and the Cold-Blooded perk. Goes away once temperature drops low enough.
Huh. Looks like Cold-Blooded can be useful. You'll have to do this more often.
Then you hear shouting. A lesser lizardman is coming up the stairs, yelling about a party...
What's so special about this party?
You come into being as a low-level monster, the kind heroes chew through like popcorn. You know the drill, whether you're a player yourself or an artificial intelligence, and you're sick of it. You set out on your own quest: to defeat the heroes at any cost (or at least be an epic boss somewhere down the line).
