The big official announcement.

Emma visited her ob/gyn regularly, making sure her baby was safe and healthy, not wanting to lose the baby through miscarriage. This was understandable considering she and Bill had tried to conceive unsuccessfully for over two years. When her doctor gave her the go ahead at the end of her first trimester, Emma made the official announcement she was pregnant to her family and friends.

My wife was excited to hold a pregnancy announcement party at our house, returning the favor with Emma. Sam was almost seven months pregnant at this point and her belly had swollen quite a lot since I had gotten Emma pregnant -- we decided to convert my office on the first floor to a bedroom so she would not need to climb the stairs and strain her back.

Emma's mom lived out of town so Sam just invited Emma's friends, most of whom were also Sam's friends as well.

"Do you need any help?" I asked, taking handful of potato chips from the bowl on the living room coffee table.

"Not with the snacks," Sam replied from the kitchen as she got the coffee ready for her guests.

The doorbell rang.

"I'll get it," I yelled back, stealing another chip before answering the door.

"Hi Mike!" Emma smiled.

"Hi, Emma," I smiled back, stepping aside to let her in. "You look amazing."

"Thanks!" she blushed. She glowed from the excitement of finally becoming a mother. At three months pregnant, there was barely a noticeable bump on her otherwise flat belly. She gave me a friendly hug and a kiss on the cheek, which felt a bit odd considering that I probably knocked her up banging her while she was doing a shoulder stand.

"Hi, Em!" Sam hugged her best friend as the best as she could with her big belly in the way.

"I'll leave you girls to whatever you do at these things," I announced. "I'll be in my man cave in the basement." I gave my wife a kiss before heading downstairs to my den-slash-entertainment room. I watched the security monitor to listen to what my wife and Emma were talking about.
