Investigate an escort service

Going through the leads Laura has set aside for you, there are a few that seem interesting. Pollution by a upstate candy factory, corruption in city hall, sightings of armed mole people. Then one catches your eye. An exclusive escort service for high-end customers. Of course, there's nothing unusual about escorts in New York, but the source claims that he used the service and was shocked to find out who the escort was. Apparently it was somebody famous, but the notes do not say who it was.

According to the notes, the source is married to one of the style reporters here at the Tribune, Sheila Watkins, and she found out about his adultery because he foolishly wired the money from their joint bank account. It had cost $50,000 for one night and instantly drew Sheila's suspicion. She then confronted her husband about it, and he confessed everything. He's a hedge fund manager, and the access to the service was only available through referrals. Every member was only allowed to refer one person, and if their referral didn't abide by the service's rules, both would be removed.

Near the bottom of the notes was a website for the service and Sheila's husband's referral code. You type in the address on your computer. The login page is plain with a black background. It prompts you to create a username and password, but only allows you to if you have a referral code. You enter the code and follow the instructions, using an alias: David Baker.

Once your account is created, you're able to log into the main site where you can browse the escorts. It looks like a standard escort website that you can find on a search engine, with pictures of women in their underwear and seductive poses. All the women's faces are blurred out. The price ranges are high and require at least an overnight booking that starts at $40,000 for the lowest priced escort. From what you can see, the highest is $500,000. A half a million. You laugh out loud when you see the price. The woman the price tag is attached to certainly looks like a swimsuit model or centerfold, but half a million seems an outrageous amount.

It takes you a while to browse through the women (there are a lot) until you realize you can sort by their availability and look for someone able to see you tonight. A 5'3 blonde with nice breasts catches your eye and you decide to book her. Her price is $150,000. There's no way Laura would authorize that expenditure, so you call your housemate Olivia and ask her to wire the money to the account specified on the website.

Once that is done, you receive a confirmation email with a QR code and an address. The email says to get there at 7pm precisely. It's a building downtown, not too far away from the office. With that taken care of, you decide to take a break from work and go out to do your part to fight crime and save people.
