Chapter 6
by WhoDat?
Do you have anything to say?
Yes, ask about The Devil
The conversation went by quickly, with it really being just Elder Jargus telling you how things were going to be, and the fact you were now offered a chance to inquire further about thing left you wondering for a moment if there was really anything you wanted explained. The way it was laid out, you expected that anything you really needed to know from now on would be provided in due time, you weren't going to rush it and push things.
Still... some part of you went back to what Lady Morgana said. You knew it was an exaggeration, something to get you driven into the thought of the wonders Conjuration had, but at the same time, it just kept nagging at the back of your mind.
"I w-wanted to know... about summoning the Devil... o-or, I mean, demons or stuff like that. Is it really something we can do?" you inquire, averting your gaze a bit to avoid seeming too intent on it. Despite your actions though, you can feel the air around you practically thicken with tension. A glance towards Jargus tells you his eyes are fixed on you, but devoid of any emotion.
"I see... Morgie's been a bit ambition, ain't she?" he pondered aloud, his hand moving to his beard and stroking it in thought.
"So she wasn't joking about that?" you asked, his words sort of confirming it as it was, even if he hadn't intended it to.
Sighing, Jargus shook his head and looked away, staring off into the distance. "Demon summonin' is... somethin' else entirely. I mean, it's the same thin', but different all its own." he mumbled, his words not feeling like they were meant for you so much as a vocal thought. "Demons are actually the ones that taught us mortals how ta summon in the first place. Course, when they did so, it was only so we would bring 'em into our world. We had to learn how to make it on our terms all our own. Since then, they always look at how they were summoned, look for flaws, exploit them however possible. Conjurers for them are only left alive to serve as anchors in this world. Dangerous business."
Gulping audibly enough that Jargus looked back at you, you looked down. "Sh-she couldn't have been serious. I've got so much to catch up on anyways, she c-couldn't possibly expect me to work with something so volatile."
Blinking for a moment, Jargus nodded and turned back to the hellscape of the campus grounds. "Aye, I don't think she'd risk her lil' pet project with overambitious actions... but knowin' her, I don' doubt that she plans for ya to learn it eventually."
Jargus then gave you a quick punch to the arm, something his muscular body makes somewhat painful with no effort. "But we'll have time ta discuss that. Till then, get some sleep, ya got a lot of work headin' yer way."
Where do you go?
