Chapter 23 by Ulap38

What does Steve decide? Who stays and who goes?

Jan makes the decision for him

"I think it's a great idea!"

Steve turned, surprised to see Jan coming into the room..and oddly seemingly no worse for wear.

"Everyone, this is Steve's wife, Jan," Kay said without missing a beat.

Jan happily greeted the younger mythfolk as Steve raised an eyebrow at Kay to Jan's nonplussed appearance. She gave a playful shrug. Steve noticed that Gen had now joined them.

"I completely forgot the fitting was today," he admitted, rubbing the back of his head sheepishly. "Sorry about that, Steve."

"It's okay, but..I thought you and Jan were...?" Steve asked, curious and confused.

"Oh! Well, Jan was still somewhat sore from yesterday so she had the idea that i partake in "her" breakfast," gen said with a knowing smile.

Steve was still confused, remembering Kaya had said something similar. He could always ask Jan when they had a minute.

Thankfully any confusion was resolved quickly. It wasn't a long trip, in fact it was just a relatively short walk. It was a two story building that looked fairly nondescript outside, save for a sign with what looked like a goblin dressed in a tuxedo, with the words Mythic Menagerie alongside it. Inside Steve and Jan was surprised at how nice it looked, as they didn't even know the store was there until today.

"The owner's a member of a rich goblin clan," Kaya explained. "He realized quick the need mythfolk would have for human clothes, so he contacted a few relatives and they set up the business. Got in on the ground floor too, supposedly it's set to become a chain."

Kay and Gen had walked up and began speaking to a small, green, long-eared goblin woman and a young, human man. After a short time, the centaur couple came back.

"We're all set up for fittings. It'll probably be awhile," Gen said apologetically.

Kaya looked at her friends. 'You know you guys could show Steve and Jan around, I'm sure they'll find this place very interesting."

"I'd personally be happy to," Tasos said with a charming smile, that Steve couldn't help but notice seemed more directed at Jan than him. Judging from her blush, she realized it too.

"Pfft, he'd just show you all the fancy, frilly stuff. Now you want to see the really good mythfolk stuff, you come to me," Mina said proudly. Almost a mirror of before, Jan noticed the female orc was giving Steve a bit of a once-over.

Dimitra for her part just smiled. "Perhaps we can compromise. If all are willing, perhaps Jan could go with Tasos, and Steve with Mina, and they can say for themselves how good their experience was."

"Do you mind if we talk about it first?" Steve asked.

"Not at all," Tasos assured.

Steve and Jan went over to their centaur neighbors as the three friends behind them playfully bickered.

"You should take them up on it," Kaya advised. "They're very trustworthy, and fun."

"We can vouch for them too," Kay assured.

"What do you think, honey?" Steve asked Jan.

"I admit I'm very intrigued by this place, and they seem very enthusiastic. I say we do it," she answered.

After a quick consensus, everything was arranged. Dimitra for her part said she had something she wanted to look at first, but might drop in on them later.

Who to follow? Mina and Steve or Jan and Tasos?
