If she does, she doesn't let on

Amy giggled. "Looks like I startled you. Sorry."

{if Karen>0}Matt remembered his sister's claim that Amy liked him. It didn't seem likely. For one thing, his sister's friends never liked him. For another, she was a horsey girl, which meant, she was more interested in having a horse between her legs than a boy.

{else}Matt wondered why Amy was so embarrassed. Probably because she could see his hardon and was working as hard as she could to ignore it. He wasn't sure what to do next. Yes her face was sort of messed up but Amy had a cute figure and Matt was a virgin. On the other hand, she was his sister's friend. In his experience, his sister's friends were not where he wanted to go. For one thing, if he flirted with him, Karen got mad. For another, they always reported back to Karen on what he'd said... and he'd always managed to say something stupid.

Now, what was it Amy had been saying? Something about startling him.{endif}

"No problem," Matt said. {if missedfirstday=true}"Did you ride the bus yesterday?"{else}"I didn't see you on the bus yesterday."{endif}

"I, ah, got a ride from my mother yesterday."

And she was riding the bus today. That could be because her mother got tired of dragging her the ten miles across the hill to the High School. Or maybe it was because she wanted to ride with him. There were certainly times he wished he could just read girls' minds. Life would be so much easier.

Talking with girls had always been hard for Matt. It was especially so with Amy since she'd report anything he said or did to his sister. Think, Matt. Something innocuous but not boring.

"So, are you and Karen planning on going to the dance this Friday."

Amy blushed again. "Uh, I guess. My dad is paying Karen to muck out my stalls so she'll have the money. I mean, it's only thirty dollars but she was acting like it was real money."

Which showed where he stood. To him, thirty dollars was real money too. {if cash<30} And he had no idea where he was going to come up with it if he wanted to go to the dance.{endif}

{if Amy>25}"Thanks for helping me and Karen with trig yesterday. That thing about measuring was cool. I'd love it if my brother wasn't a jerk.{else}"Karen said you really get the trig. That's so cool.{endif} My tutor tried but I just didn't get it."

Of course she had her homework all filled out... neatly copied from her tutor.

Matt looked at his phone. Still a couple of minutes before the bus should arrive. "I had trouble with trig as well but something clicked in my brain. Here, let me show you."
