Chapter 32 by Artican Artican

Who goes into battle... Simulation?

Linda replaces her hologram.

I gave a heavy sigh as i realized I shouldn't shirk my duties. "Alright, I'll take over from here. Thanks, you." I tapped my com badge, "Trask to Westland, proceed." Holo-Linda looked like she was about to say something more but I had sent a communique to Kari to shut it off. I watched myself disappear and figured I'd find out the details of the drills when I got to my station.

I arrived at the bridge soon after and took the console behind tactical. On screen was two alien vessels firing on the ship. I read the scans of the ship while Commander Kokuru issued orders. All I needed to do was be prepared to step in if any of the regulars was incapacitated. If was lucky, that wouldn't happen and I could just stand back and let the bridge crew do their work. I braced for impact as another shot hit the ship. Davis was doing his best to evade the shots, but there were too many and too close range. Greene was trying to rotate the shield harmonics to keep the aliens guessing how to penetrate them while Tiloth threw back shots of our own. They scored hits but did not appear to affect their pursuit.

"We're taking massive damage from the port side, commander!" Amasova announced.

"Davis, get us out of here!" Kokuru ordered.

"They've hit the engines, sir. I can't make warp!"

"Then we need some place to lose them!"

"I can adjust the deflector dish to give us a flare out of their next hit... that'll scatter their sensors for a minute, we could use that time to escape," Lieutenant Greene suggested.

"Scans indicate a nebula half a lightyear away," Davis added.

"You'll have to position us to catch their beam attack," Greene told Davis.

"I think I can do that," Davis replied nervously.

"Do it!" Kokuru said and the team set to work.

Davis had the ship make an abrupt halt and swivel around to face the enemy. Their weapons were already firing but the shields held.

"Deflector is aligned!" Davis announced.

"Now, lieutenant!" Kokuru commanded.

Greene dropped the shield and the beam went through to the Ishtar! The impact rumbled throughout the ship sending everyone to the ground. Davis's console exploded in front of him as the view screen went white. Davis fell limp from the helm and instinctively I rushed to the chair. The coordinates were already pathed into the system, but I would be flying blind because of the flare. I engaged the engines and we were off. Lieutenant Greene slowly pulled herself up to her seat and checked the computer systems.

"We're still getting hit!" Greene said, "But judging from the shots, they're shooting blind."

"We'll know for sure where we're at in a minute..." Kokuru said tensely.

The scanners rebooted and Greene ran a system wide scan. "We've gotten out of firing range of the enemy vessels but it looks like they've regains sensors too. They're starting to pursue."

"Get us into that nebula, ensign."

"Aye, sir." I piloted us in and took over manual controls to evade the environmental hazards.

"It doesn't look like they're pursuing, commander," Greene noted.

"Good, let's get a status report on..."

The ship shook. Tiloth checked her systems.

"Reports of intruders all over the ship! They must have beamed aboard when we dropped shields!"

Just as she reported this news, the door burst open with invaders dressed in armored gear covering them from head to toe. They opened fire and Amasova when down. I ducked behind my console as Tiloth tackled the first intruder. Kokuru had her phaser ready and shot down the next invader. A phaser fight broke out and I had to duck down and borrow a weapon from one of the downed intruders to join the fight. Greene and I held back the rush of aliens while Tiloth locked down the entryway, blocking them out completely. Kokuru locked down the second entry before anyone could get in through there. We took a moment to catch our breath before we could check our situation.

Tiloth checked the console. "Computer has a complement of fifty invaders. Engineering has been secured as has the bridge. Sick bay is being used as a base for the others that were stranded during the breach. Akira reports no casualties so far, but many injured. The captain is down in Engineering and wants us to stay put and hold the bridge until she gets back."

Kokuru nodded. "See if you can get the **** fields up on the disputed decks and help our people out a bit."

"Aye commander." Tiloth said, already punching in commands.

Kokuru turned to me and said, "How are we in the nebula?"

I took a seat at the helm again to check the computer. I turned to face the commander and said, "If we hold position, the environmental hazards shouldn't be anything the computer can't handle."

"And how are Amasova and Davis?'

Greene looked up from checking on Davis, "Amasova is stunned but will recover. Davis is out with some bad burns that we'll need to get him to sick bay for, but I think he'll be alright too."

"Looks like we're going to have to wait this out then..." The commander said as Lieutenant Greene stood beside her, "That fight really got the blood pumping, huh, Isa?"

"Mhmm..." Greene replied as she pulled on her top.

I stared at the two, wondering about their odd behavior. I glanced over to Tiloth who was busy at her station. Greene had pulled her top off now and Kokuru was rubbing her body underneath the undershirt. They kissed.

"Commander, this is not proper decorum," Tiloth pointed out as the women were fondling and making out in the captain's chair.

I kept silent, completely confused about the situation.

"Tiloth, go help out the captain," Kokuru said casually, "We can handle the bridge."

"But commander..."

"That's an order!'

"Yes sir..." Tiloth said as she took out her phaser and unlocked the door, firing into the hallway a few times before stepping out. The door shut behind her and auto-locked.

I gaped my mouth as the two in the chair continued to grope each other. Kokuru was topless now and Greene suckled on her tit as she pulled her own pants down. Kokuru looked at me and said, "Do you have any protest about what we're doing, ensign?"

"Ah... no, commander..." I replied, slowly realizing that only Kokuru and Greene were real here. Everyone else was a hologram! Including me! But now I was real and they didn't know it... I had foolishly replaced my hologram and now I was about to be caught sneaking in on a private affair between the commander and lieutenant. Unless I played along...

"Well then, how about you join us, ensign?"

I bit my lower lip.

Will Trask play along?
