Don't ask me, ask Soifon.

The ball separated into 4 lines of energy that separated and spread all over Seireitei. I have not a single clue what is going on right now but evidently the barrier has just been breached by something. I cramped the reservation into my pocket and began running. Whatever just happened as the second seat I should be at the Gotei 2 Headquarters right now.

Faster and faster I ran through the roads of Seireitei, leaving all the other panicked Shinigami in the dust. It showed just how much stronger I had become in the past month that everyone around me locked like they were moving through water while I used on Shunpo after another to shorten the distance between and my goal.

Even with all the speed I could muster it took me 10 minutes to get back into the Headquarters. Evidently orders to gather had been already issued. It was a joy to see military doctrine in action, especially since everything went so smoothly.

Every member of Gotei 2 was on a great plaza only used for special occasions. I myself stood at the top of a platform, much bigger than the one on the training grounds, to the right of Omaeda and among the other top members of the Gotei 2.

A sudden gust of wind warned me of Soifons appearance. She opened her mouth and her voice echoed over the plaza. “Soldiers, Agents, we are under attack by Ryoka.” Not a single noise, I know you are probably sick by me going on about it but just look at that discipline. I love it.

But this was hardly the time to be distracted. “Some of you may have heard of the incident at the Westgate where Captan Gin of the Gotei 2 failed to eliminate or capture the intruders. The Ryoka we are facing now are exactly those intruders.”

I slight pause. “I warn you: If you are a member of the lower or middle ranks, do not engage the intruders on sight. They managed to beat the keeper of the western gate Jidanbo, so they will outmatch you. Your job is to locate them and report back to somebody ranking 7th seat or higher, I don’t care which Gotei.”

That took me aback slightly. Jidanbo was an almost 10 metre high beast, of course he had no technique to talk of but he was by no means a pushover.

“Now find those intruders, Gotei 2, dismissed.” With that the formations on the plaza quickly dissipated. Soifon turned to me. “I have to be on standby at the inner sanctum, it is likely the intruders are after Rukia Kuchiki.”

She then pointed at Omaeda, “You will go with him to the lieutenants to coordinate our effort.” Omaeda looked insulted “Captain, I can manage this by myself.” The two of us just looked at him. I know I didn’t contribute anything but it still felt great to see him crumble under the pressure. “Argh, fine, come with me Nice.”

Now it was my turn to feel insulted “It’s pronounced N-ie-t-zs-e.” I quickly corrected him. “Lead the way, I will try to keep up.” Turning to the captain in the intention to say farewell I only saw the empty platform in front of me.

Then Omaeda started running and I simply followed him. I managed to keep up with his speed and as instructed picked up his slack at the meeting. But there is only so much one can do when most of the vice captains were slacking just as much. Seriously, Matsumoto read magazines, Hinamori was too shy to say much, Iba tried to look cool with his sunglasses, Shuhei and Kira were contemplating the meaning of existence or some shit and Yachiru, Akon, Renji as well as Ikkaku didn’t even show up.

I had to restrain myself to stop my eyes from twitching in anger. They didn’t take this serious at all. Meanwhile I was ordered to stay here, watching our lieutenants sitting around and gossiping.
