Chapter 14 by Funatic Funatic

Day 2 of the investegation, what happens?

Let’s follow Rukia. (2 days until the Grand Fisher fight)

I awoke early. Like really early, a look at the clock revealed that it was 4 in the morning. I rolled of the couch and stretched. The couch had been soft, a huge difference to the bed I was used to, which basically was nothing more than a thin piece of fabric between me and the ground.

And I really missed that. I spent the seven years before my **** in tents, seems like my soul had imprinted that into my psyche so I was conditioned to sleep on hard ground. My back cracked a few times when I got up and walked up the stairs to look how Orihime was doing.

I opened the door slightly and spied into the darkness. There she was, lying in her bed sleeping peacefully. From the towel on the floor I deduced that she had taken a shower before going to bed. Probably a good idea considering the mess I spread on her.

But now that I knew that she was okay I could go after my job.

It really was a blessing in disguise that Rukia stayed with that orange haired guy. His spiritual energy was like a bonfire in a dark field, tracking the guy was quite literally the easiest job I ever had. Thanks to earrings staying hidden was easy as well.

I sat on the roof of the emergency clinic and waited for something to happen. With nothing else to do I scanned the city more thoroughly than on my first arrival. Two slightly spiritually gifted revealed themselves beneath me. Apparently there was something about this family’s bloodline. I jumped down from the roof and read the name sign. Kurosaki. Huh, never heard of that name. I punched the Japanese signs into my cellphone, the Soul Society archives kept the names of most exorcist family’s maybe I would find something there.

It was also an excuse to check the time. 5 o’clock AM. I sighed. If yesterday was anything to judge on Rukia Kuchiki currently followed a student’s schedule, meaning that she would leave the house in like…

A clicking noise interrupted my thoughts. Rukia stepped out of the house wearing a blue summer dress. So she was leaving the house right now, great I had something to do. “Hello.” My target said and walked right by me. I marched after her. Wherever she was going, it could be quite interesting.

Turned out it wasn’t. She went to a shop hidden in a side street. When I first stepped into the shop I thought I felt some major power, but it was just my mind trying to make the day more exciting.

“Hello, Rukia, my favorite customer.” The man inside the shop said. He wore a green, badly adjusted Kimono, had almost green hair and wore ridiculous green and white stripped hat. He also seemed eerily familiar. I stared at him, but I couldn’t make out where I would have seen him before.

“You mean your only customer.” Rukia said. “Don’t be like that, after all there is another customer right behind you.” The hat-man said. Rukia turned around. “Oh please, he is probably just here by chance.”

These earrings really made stalking way to easy. I had followed her from the house till here and she didn’t even question it.

I nodded, “She is right, I am just on a little walk.” The hat-man seemed sad but not surprised. “Oh well, so what can I do for you, Rukia?” he said. Rukia took a proud stance, hands on the hips, head held up high and shouted. “Candy.”

““”Huh?!”””

Me, the hat-man and another person in the back. “What? I want some sugar, I only get rice at Ichigo’s house.” So the orange haired guy was named Ichigo. I made a mental note and knelled down to pet a black cat that just walked in. The conversation continued, money was exchanged and my fingers traced through black fur.

Afterwards Rukia went to school, got yelled at by Ichigo for suddenly disappearing, then yelled back at him and that pretty much set the tone for the entire day. I sat in an empty chair in the classroom and watched her the whole day. Occasionally my eyes would dart over to Orihime to take my mind of the boredom.

Eventually I had sat through the ****, school had ended, Rukia went back to Ichigo’s place and I stood in front of the house pondering my options.

I could see what they did in there, I probably should after all I still didn’t know where she had gotten that Gigai from. But on the other side I could reward myself by visiting Orihime again. Or maybe I could find something entirely else.

Decisions, decisions.
