Chapter 5

How does Zeus respond?
He defends his daughter.
"She's a grown woman, Hera," Zeus stated. "She's not doing anything wrong."
"Not doing anything wrong!? She's out there acting like a slut! She's our child, Zeus! Her last name is Karras, lest you forget. What she does reflects upon us!" Hera protested.
"Funny how when she asserts her sexuality you get angry, but when she does any number of good things you rarely give so much as a "well done" her way," Zeus pointed out.
"Don't try and pull that, Zeus," Hera said with a contemptuous smile. "You are the last man to be championing a woman's rights."
He fought the urge to grit his teeth.
"I don't mind her sexual appetites. It's when she decides to showcase them in public that I have a problem," Hera asserted.
"Considering some of the things that people have done on social media I really don't see how this is that bad," Zeus pointed out.
"Mortals always judge, Zeus. They judge as harshly as us but without the power to justify the importance of their opinions," Hera said with a bit of vehemence.
Zeus sighed. "Where was Aphrodite? She was supposed to be with her that night."
Aphrodite was the head of a prominent fashion design company. The party was to celebrate her latest fashion line. Aphrodite and Alena were close, with the older goddess taking her younger relative under her wing. They were also frequent lovers, much to Hera's chagrin as she didn't want Alena picking up Aphrodite's "bad habits". As a result, Aphrodite tended to look after Alena whenever they went out together.
"Who knows where that whore ended up. For all I know she was sucking your dick that night," Hera said bitterly.
"You know damn well she wasn't," Zeus said, irritation clear in his voice. "And you're one to get high and mighty regarding sexual promiscuity. I know for a fact you have several lovers."
Hera scoffed. "True, though I imagine it barely comes close to reaching the notches on your belt."
Zeus let out a deep sigh before sitting back in his chair. "I don't want to fight, Hera."
For a moment Hera seemed to soften. "..Nor I really. I am simply..concerned."
Zeus thought for a moment. "I'll talk to her."
"You will?"
He nodded. "I will. I'll try and convince her to be a bit more..discreet."
"I..appreciate that. She..she's always gotten along better with you than I," Hera said, a touch of regret in her tone.
"Maybe you should try and change that. We don't know how long we'll live this time around," Zeus advised.
Hera gave a wry chuckle. "Every once in awhile you make me look past all your bluster and womanizing and make me remember why I was pleased when you became my husband."
Zeus smiled. "I thought you were quite the catch yourself."

Olympus On Earth
Ancient gods reborn in the Modern Age
The ancient Olympian gods have been reincarnated in the modern age as semi-mortal beings with human lifespans, but powers comparable to what they once held. Having taken human identities, the gods now live new lives in the mortal world, gravitating to occupations appealing to their ancient divine portfolios. For example, Zeus and Hera now have become the owners of a prominent international corporation, ruling over it as they once did Olympus itself. However, while being mortal has mellowed them, they are still very much the dysfunctional beings of power they once were. This story is their various adventures (misadventures) in living in the modern world.
