Chapter 34

But what should he do then...?
Just have another quick look
Even as Jack knew that he should leave the room as quick as possible, he just couldn't take his mind of the idea that there might be more to this than he'd found out so far. Thus instead of leaving, he found himself reaching for the mouse to Jennifer's computer, and clicked for the short movie clip to start from the beginning. Then he put that window in the corner of the screen, so that he could check the other files in the same folder while letting the clip run in the background.
The short movie in itself didn't seem any worse than he'd seen this far, and started quite innocently, with his daughter just trying to adjust the camera for a better angle. Then she posed a little, and made a few cute faces, before she started to slowly unbutton her shirt. Meanwhile Jack was trying to focus on the other files on her computer though, but couldn't stop from eyeing the girl's performance, and was unable to figure anything out just by looking at the thumbnails.
This all meant that he was a little distracted when he suddenly heard the door to bathroom open in the other end of the hallway outside, and he nearly panicked again while he tried his best to cover up what he'd been doing in his daughter's room. Just a few moments later she'd already appeared in the doorway though, and the best he could do was to pretend like nothing when he turned to face her.
"Dad...?" She said, with a look of mild surprise on her face, and it seemed to take her a couple of seconds to remember what state she'd left her computer in when she went for the bathroom. When she did her expression changed slowly into one of dread however, and she looked like she was trying to see the screen of her computer behind her father's back, without being able to move an inch from the spot.
"What are you doing here...?" She managed to ask him eventually, but was obviously struggling to speak up at all, and she seemed only slightly less terrified when she confirmed that the movie clip was no longer up on her screen. Perhaps she might even think that she'd turned it off before she left the room, and Jack made a quick decision to play on this false assumption.
"I just didn't need to work today either." He told her, as to simply answer the question of what he was doing at home at this time of the day. Somehow he managed to keep his voice rather calm as well, and only reacted to his daughter's shock with an expression of mild curiosity. "I'd thought you were still at school though...?"
"Well... we didn't have any lessons after lunch..." The girl cringed a little, as if this could've been a small lie, and she managed surprisingly well to make it seem like this was the one sin she really didn't want her father to find out about. In fact he'd probably fallen for it, if he hadn't already seen the clip on her computer, and he suddenly realized she was a much better actor than himself, while he tried to explain why he'd walked right into her room.
"It's okay!" She flashed him a faint smile, when he told her that he'd been surprised to see her computer still on, and had just been about to turn it off. She didn't look too convinced, but for obvious reasons she didn't want to argue about it either, but probably just wanted him out of her room as soon as possible.
On the other hand she did seem just a bit curious though, as if she'd actually been willing to hear the full story, and Jack too didn't feel quite right about leaving the subject be like this either. He couldn't just ask her however, but felt like she would have to make the first move if they would talk any more about her actions in front of the camera...
So what will it be then...?
Girls of Jack
One man's world has been turned upside down, but he may find hope in the most unexpected places.
A story which I hope to work on when I have the time for it. For now it's closed for others, but I'll gladly accept ideas and suggestions for how to improve or continue the story! I've now started adding conditions, which is how I planned it from the start. So far it's recommended to read without activating the play function, but please try it out if you want, and let me know if you find something odd about the scoring.
