Chapter 47 by Sam-Kelly

Where is the car?

Still there

Relief washed over you, but it's temporary. The car was still there, your dad hadn't left, but where was he?

"Dad!?" you called out once more only to get the same reply.

Not in the tent. Not in the camp. The river? No, not by the river. Which way had he gone last night? Left? Right? Don't know. It was stupid to not pay attention. You were always supposed to know a direction at least. Tears were welling up in your eyes. You ran your hands through your hair and took a deep breath.

The radios were in the car. They were always kept in the car, at camp, until you had use for one. He must have taken one, it was his rule. You ran over to the car, opened the driver's door, and you screamed.

Your dad jolted awake, he's on his feet in seconds.

"Summer? What? What's wrong?"

"You—you weren't—I couldn't find you—I..."

"Summer, hey, relax. It's okay. When I got back, I couldn't bear to get back in the tent. I slept in the car. I wouldn't leave you, you know that right?"

What you did or didn't know didn't matter anymore. Without thinking, you closed the distance between the two of you and wrapped your arms around his chest.

"I'm so sorry Summer. I don't know how you can ever forgive me." Your dad put his hands on the top of your head. "I don't know if I can ever forgive myself." His hands ran down your hair and moved back up behind your head. "You were just so beautiful, and so sexy, and you were there, and..."

Looking up into your father's eyes, the remorse was clear, but so was the desire. Your heart was still beating fast, but all the worry had gone. Without thinking on it any further, you leaned up and planted your lips on his.

How does he respond?
