You're feeling a bit off today

As Robert leaves an important business meeting and you are left alone to care for you boys, you can feel that something is off with you. Normally you're happy with just the boys, teaching them things and helping them make crafts to show their Papa when he gets home. But today you feel depressed as you watch them, a feeling that something is missing and you know exactly what's wrong.

You feel the absence of family.

While you have your sons and your husband, you and your father are still distant. You sent him an announcement of the birth of the triplets, but never heard anything back. You also send photos and letters, wanting him to have something but, once again, no response.

You've also seen him on the street, but when he spots you he turns the other way. You're sure if there was someone else to turn to you wouldn't mind so much, but your father is the only family you have. And you know that Robert doesn't have any close family, though you did meet some distant cousins at your wedding.

You remember feeling this way when you confirmed that you were pregnant the first time, but Robert was home more often back then and he didn't let you dwell on what you couldn't change. You haven't thought about it too much since, but now that you're trying for another baby you are longing for a complete family, not a fractured one.

You're pulled from your thoughts when Vincent climbs into your lap and pats your cheek. "Smile Daddy!" he says, giving you his own cheeky smile. You can't help but smile, his happiness spreading to you. It'll be okay in the end, but you want to talk to Robert about it when he gets home.
