Her mom

Michelle, Lauren's mother stood in the doorway. Lauren, soaking wet, wrapped in a towel looked at her from inside.

"Let me guess, you're wasting your whole day in the bath, as usual?" Her mother said, rolling her eyes.

"Mom?" Lauren asked. "What are you doing here?" Her mother walked in without asking, bumping past Lauren as she entered

"I've been needing you to get your stuff out of storage for years." Her mother said. "I need that garage space. Well, I know it's your day off, so I decided to come pick you up so you can go through it."

"What? Mom I'm busy!" Lauren said

"Busy doing what? Soaking in the tub, lazing about?" Her mother said. "You always claim to be an adult, but you're still totally irresponsible."

"I am an adult!" Lauren said, exasperated. "Fine." She sighed. "I'll get my stuff out of your garage. Happy?"

"Estatic." Her mother said flatly. "And don't be sarcastic: it's rude. Now come on, my car's running, let's head over there."

"What? Mom I have to get dressed!" Lauren yelped. "I'm in a fucking towel here!"

Her mother's eyes narrowed. "Don't swear at me young lady."

Lauren gulped. Her mother was very proud, and prone to tantrums that bordered on insanity. Lauren was an adult, but she'd never be totally free of fearing her mother's wrath.

"Sorry." Lauren mumbled. "Just let me get dressed!"

"Lauren, I know you. It can take you hours to get dressed!" Her mother rolled her eyes. "Just come over, there'll be something in the storage for you to wear."

"What? But all that's stuff from grade school!" Lauren objected. "Besides, I can't ride to your house in a towel! Someone might see me!"

"There you go again, acting like everyone's so **** to catch a glimpse of you! It's not a big deal, you're not showing anything, you're totally covered!" Her mother grasped her bicep forcefully. "Now come along, I don't have time to waste!"
