"How was it?"

I ask my step-mom, trying to sound casual.

"How was what?" Millie asks me and gives me a bit of a weird look.

"How was it like to be DP'd?" I clarify and look at Millie, trying to look like I am asking her about the weather.

Millie smiles, shakes her head, and gives my arm a light smack, saying:

"How was it like to be DP'd? Listen to you." She says and starts laughing.

I'm not really sure what to say, so I just sit there and look at her. Millie keeps laughing for a few more seconds, then sees that I am looking at her with anticipation so she says:

"You're serious, aren't you? You really want to know?"

I nod in reply and look at my step-mom with wide eyes.

Millie hesitates for a second, then says:

"Matt, let's just leave it with me saying that it was very intense, okay?"

I nod slowly to signal that I have heard her, and Millie leans back on her sun lounger and closes her eyes.
