Chapter 36 by Javalar Javalar

What do you do?

Stay one more night until Sunday.

"I don't like it", you say. "We have not come this far to rush into something that could be a trap. Let's stay here."

Sara nods slowly, then tips once on her touchscreen and logs off. "Let's eat something", she says.

You make lunch and then spend the rest of the afternoon searching for more contacts - but you are not successfull. As you have experienced before, websites who existed a day before seem to vanish quickly. You avoid those which are too obvious, too much shouting for attention, but you can't find anything useful.

As the evening arrives, you go to bed rather quickly, still tired from the restless night before. At least you are settled now: You have food and equipment, and a plan. There's something you can work with.

You are woken up in the middle of the night by a sound. A faint muffled cry. Next thing you know, a hand presses down on your mouth. You scream and try to jump out of the bed, but more hands are suddenly on you and pinning you down into your sheets.

"We got them", says a male voice, and there's cracking noise from a walkie-talkie. "Where are they?", asks a sizzling voice.

"At a motel - like all of them", answers the man and laughs. "They are all so predictable. And they always leave tons of traces. They check in at hotels, they pay with credit cards, they use their phones..."

You struggle and whimper, but there are clearly several men now in your room. You hear how Sara is fighting from the bed next to you, but her shouts are muffled as if she's gagged or otherwise silenced.

"Take the Blonde and question the other", says the voice in the walkie-talkie.

The man who has his hand clamped down on your face turns his eyes down on you.

"Okay, little lady, I have a few things I want to ask you. Your companion over there is a known and wanted criminal. She tried to escape justice, but we could finally track her down. She's quite dangerous, and, frankly, a bit delusional. Did you know anything about this? Have the two of you talked about why she fled?"

What do you answer?
