Ailis and Lili

"Niall, you explained to me in length about the responsibilities of my residents. However what tasks do Miss Ailis' and Miss Lili's perform?" you asked.

They were all visibly shocked by your brutally frank question and Ailis opened her mouth a few times to say something. However she did not find any words and there was a moment of awkward silence. Finally Niall answered placatingly, "Sir, Mistress Ailis' and Miss Lili's have the authority over us servants."

You smirked at his answer, "Niall, you are a smart man. What I want to know is how they do contribute to my estate and my property."

"Sir, that's..." the old steward started but he did not know what to say and averted his gaze to the ground.

"Surely, you all can see that it would makes no sense for me to share my food with people who contribute nothing to my cause? Why should I go so far as to accommodate people I have no relations with?" you pressed further.

"This is outrageous. You are moving into my estate and and now you plan to kick us, mother and daughter, out of our own home?" Ailis cussed.

"You are wrong milday. This is my estate now and I have the deed right here, signed by his majesty Edward I himself." you reminded her.

"Do you know what happened to my husband and my son? They are the rightful owners of these lands." she asked but her words have lost their ferocity.

You shaked your head, "They might be dead. Even if they were to be alive, they would be named traitors to the crown."

"Please milord... please let us stay. We have nowhere else we could go." she finally accepted the harsch truth and her powerlessness in this matter.

You make a small gesture to your steward, "Niall please leave us. There are things I need to discuss with your former mistress."
