Chapter 9 by HenryKajitani HenryKajitani

Does the teacher believe the note?

Not a chance

Heads turned as Anna entered the lecture hall. The hall is on an incline so that the whole class has good visibility of the front of the room. Students stared in bewilderment at the girl's scant attire. The sudden attention from so many people made Anna blush with embarrassment.

Anna had the choice to sit in the back of the class, evading the gaze of wandering eyes in return for an embarrassing walk up. Alternatively, she could sit in the front of the class, avoiding the long walk up to the back but remain in plain sight. After mulling it over, she decided to endure the walk up the stairs to the back.

Anna climbed the shallow stairs and held her presentation board close to her body. At least this way the front of her body was protected from sight. Students studied Anna as she passed them. She desperately wished to sprint up the stairs, but running would cause the back of her skirt to flap. Flashing her bare ass to the class was not very endearing, so she took the steps slowly.

Reaching the back, Anna sat down and leaned her board against the wall. She couldn't very well hold it while she sat; it would block her vision and stick out on the sides. The history teacher, Mr. Barclay entered the room as the bell rang.

He prepared his papers and gave his introduction, "Good morning students, I hope you've all had a good weekend. Due to our time constraints, only half of you will present this morning. The rest of you will present tomorrow. Don't worry about volunteering; I will be pulling your names out of this hat to present."

Anna's heart rose. There was a chance she wouldn't need to present in her current outfit.

Reaching into the hat, Mr. Barclay chose the first name. "Addison!" He called out.

A blonde haired girl from the middle of the classroom approached the front of the room and began her presentation while Mr. Barclay sat in an empty seat on the front row.

The class dragged on and on until almost half the class had given presentations.

Mr. Barclay stood up and spoke to the class, "The next presentation will be the last for today. Remember, the rest of you will present tomorrow."

Anna's hear was beating out of her chest. "Please don't be me. Please don't be me. Please don't be me..." She thought to herself.

He pulled a white slip of paper slowly out of the hat.

Is Anna's name on the paper?
