Chapter 55 by v9 v9

I love it when a plan comes together.

A member of your party dies but an opportunity for presents itself.

An injured Sara runs up to you clutching her arm, "it's Annie" she states with an ashen white face, obviously in shock from the recent events. She solemnly leads you back near the cart where Annie's lifeless body in impaled on a large piece of wood, a rush of emotions wash over you. Each distinct and with a different taste, moments before all you could see was through a blood red rage, now the world is coloured by the blackness of regret and sorrow. You raise some of the nearest defeated Elves as zombies and order them to take down Annie's body as Lynn ties up the four surviving elves as captives.

"If she was going to respawn as a player she would haveleftappeared by now" states Sara.

"I know, I guess that when she became corrupted by me she became else" you muse.

"Can you raise her? What would she become? Does that mean that Lynn and I can die now?" Asked Sara as she begins to panic.

The zombies lay Annie's body on the ground before you, at first you to cast your raise dead spell on her but nothing happens, you try a second time but still nothing, frustrated you try healing her but there's still no response from her lifeless corpse. Needing time to think you spend some time raising the bodies of the dead Elves to create new zombies, their number doesn't quite replenish your losses but it's a start.

Deciding that you need more information about your attackers you turn your attention to your four prisoners. It doesn't take quite as long as you'd like but by the end you have found out what you needed to know and the sole survivor of your interrogation agrees to lead you to his village. From what they told you (and you are certain they would be telling you the whole truth by the end of your questioning) they come from a village of NPC's hidden in the forest, it's largely just a quest location which gets raided by goblins several times a day with the idea being that adventurers help repel the invaders. During a raid a few days ago Mia suddenly started to level up when she fought back against the raiders, she swiftly became the Elves champion and leader as she surpassed everyone else in skill and bravery. She had disguised herself using spells of illusion then left her village to recruit heroes to aid them in finding the goblin lair and eliminating the threat to their homes once and for all. Having recruited some allies she was returning to her village when they stumbled across your group. She initially fled to the safety of her warriors but when Elven scouts reported that they had watched you sacrifice men to the Spriggan Mia decided to infiltrate your group with the aim of assassinating you before her warriors wiped out the rest of your party.

The news that once again you were so easily manipulated angers you, but there is also a sense of curiosity. It would seem that you have found someone like you, a NPC that can raise levels and you feel the need to find out what happens when someone like you is defeated.

Much to your chagrin Spriggan appears, you demand to know where it has been but the answer is always that it needs seed so you offer it the remaining Elf but it would seem she is picky (or speciesest) about the type of seed she wants.

You arm the zombies with all the weapons and armour you recover and retrieve the equipment you and your party had left by the lake shore, by the time you are finished the fire has burnt out. You decide that Dave01rocks and Tri-Klops will stay by the wagons with Spriggan and Annie's corpse while you, Sara, Lynn and your zombies follow the Elf to his village. Logically it would seem that most of the villages fighters are now zombies so the numbers will be on your side, the only question is whether heroes or goblin raiders are already there.

It only takes a few hours for the Elf to lead you to the vicinity of his village, after leaving Sara and Lynn some distance behind with the zombies to keep an eye on your captive you sneak ahead alone to reconnitor the area. In keeping with the mature content of the game there are no children in the village, the only civilians that seem to be moving are female maidens and the elderly. In terms of combat ability there seems to be a few warriors and no heroes at all. You wonder if that is because of the events at Zurch with all available heroes presumably investigating the events there.

You ponder to yourself what your next step should be.

Do you attack now or later? Raze the village and enslave its occupants?
