Chapter 3 by Zingiber Zingiber

Who's next to introduce themselves?

Go for a run, follow Sal and Sally

I was perturbed by the way Sal Langfield had been so familiar with his sister Sally, putting his hand on her butt like she was his main squeeze. The little smile on her face suggested that it was just fine with her if her younger brother squeezed her behind. But maybe it was just my imagination.

When I reached a pause in my unpacking, I looked out across the street to the cream-and-cerulean house they'd said was theirs, or their parents' anyway. I saw two red-headed young people doing warm-up leg stretches against the streetlight pole. Going running...I was overdue for a little run myself, I thought.

"Hey Lisa," I called to my wife, "I want to knock off for an hour and do a lap or round the neighborhood before I get too stiff with all this bending and reaching. It's hot, but at least I can catch the breeze if I'm running round. How about I come back by the convenience story and bring us back some ice cream."

"You're crazy to run in the heat, but suit yourself," Lisa said. "You can do some more of the heavy stuff this evening. Get me Lemon Drop, or if they don't have it, then lime or vanilla. But here," she said, "Take this!" She tossed me a cold water bottle. "No heat stroke, you hear?'

I was already in shorts and T-shirt, so I changed into my beat-up running shoes and took off, hoping to catch up with the younger Langfields. I saw their heels clearing the corner of our cul-de-sac. Looked like they were taking off for an easy run. I settled into a jog, hoping to warm up and slowly speed up my pace until I could shadow them.

Sal and Sally jogged toward the back of our development, furthest from the main street. They cut into a utility access path. I put on some speed so I wouldn't lose them. Behond the utility path I could see them jogging up a hill. I forget if the land behind our development was a park, an old quarry site, or just some sort of government land, but what was there was dusty, rocky hills with scrubby plants and rough dirt trails crisscrossing the hillsides.

Even at an easy pace, it was a serious run for a hot day. I was panting, sweat beading on my hot face, as I jogged up the trail behind the long-legged pair. When I turned a corner, I was surprised to find them standing together waiting for me, stopped in a shady, level place on the trail.

"Hi Steve!" "Hi Steve!" they called, waving at me.

"We saw you coming," Sally said, "and figured we should wait."

"Yeah," Sal said. "You made pretty good time."

"Ah," I said. "Nice..." I took a breath. "Nice of you." The two redheaded siblings were a little pink with the heat, but they were breathing easily and had barely broken a sweat.

"We had to stop soon anyway," Sal said. "We have to hurry home today, right Sally?"

"Mm-hm," Sally said. "Mom's coming home early and we want to have some cool-down time first." I swear this time I saw Sally squeeze her brother's butt. My eyes flashed down to follow her motion and I couldn't help but see that Sal's running shorts were straining to contain a blatantly erect cock. Failing, in fact, since I could see a little pink tip peeking out of the leg of his shorts. I wondered what they'd been up to while they were waiting for me.

Sal laughed. "Yeah, I don't wanna hear her give us the 'Salton Avery! Salina Alyssa!' lecture on punctuality again."

"Aw, you love it," Sally said. "Practically begging to get spanked. But yeah, we better go. Bye Steve!"

It seemed like Mom and Dad Langfield ran a pretty tight ship with their grown-up kids, but I figured that can happen to young people who live at home for college. Though with each kid's initials being S-A-L, maybe they were freaks for order.

"Hey, race us down?" Sal asked me.

"Sure," I said.

I nearly paced them down the hill until we got to the last little steep bit before the housing development. The long-legged brother and sister deer-leaped down the slope with ease, while I had to pick my way carefully through the loose rocks to avoid a nasty fall. They laughed and waved back at me from the bottom, then darted across the street into the opposite cul-de-sac. I figured they were trying to lose me, so I put on a little speed and dashed after them. I found myself in the utility access path on the other side, which snaked between the houses. I heard their laughter ahead of me, around a curve. Figuring they thought they'd lost me I slowed to a walk. The little path ran between the back yards, and through it ran the electric, telephone, and cable TV lines. Walking slowly, I heard their voices ahead of me until finally there was the scrape, squeak, and thump of a gate opening and closing.

In no hurry, I approached the gate. I heard more snorts of happy laughter from Sal and Sally. I figured I'd take a peek through their back gate, then take an easy jog over to the convenience store and get ice cream for Lisa and me. As I stepped quietly up, I heard a rhythmic sound of moist flesh on flesh. Sal groaned softly, and Sally hummed back with a rising note.

I was a little startled that it seemed like my imagination that they were playing around with each other seemed to be confirmed. Unless something innocent was going on, like... like I didn't know, maybe Sally using lots of oil to rub out a stiff muscle?

I had to know if my imagination was running away with me. I looked through the cracks in the back gate.

What did I see?
