Chapter 42
by
v9
Do you now continue your journey?
Final preparations are made for leaving the Devastation of Zurch
"We go to the Dwarf Fortress of Boatmurdered, but first we must make preparations." You turn to Lynn and whisper in her ear to ask her to cast a sleep spell on Tri-Klops which swiftly takes effect. "Ok ladies, we need to complete our groundwork for travel before some high level adventurers come to investigate the carnage and discover our latest victim."
With your improved necromatic powers gained from levelling up you raise the bodies of the townsfolk who were unable to respawn to create a throng of zombies, then at your command they search the town for transport and loot. You supervise their searching and while you are occupied Sara cleans the **** Tri-Klops wounds, Dave01roCks follows like the faithful dog you have turned him into, Lynn and Annie disappear together and from the sounds drifting across the town the ladies are making the most of their time alone to enjoy each other.
Your mindless slaves searching the devastation provide mixed results, they find a variety of supplies in basements of houses and shops. There are precious bolts of silk ruined by soot, a variety of potions boiled by the heat until most of their contents have evaporated, there is an array of weapons/ armour bent or broken by falling masonry, there are scorched books and scrolls both mundane and magical which are now unreadable and there is also an assortment of alchemical ingredients made worthless by the heat.
Yet, the good stuff which is made of harder material survives. There are gold coins aplenty along with a variety of different gemstones which you place into your inventory, most of the wands/staves you find are still working, your party has the choice of the best weapons/armour and a plethora of beer is found in deep cellars, arguably the most useful of all are the three carts which are found. The lack of edible food and fresh water could be a problem but for now you have adequate supplies.
When you are finished the best gear is shared out amongst the party. Mythrial is the lightest yet amongst the strongest armour allowing spellcasters to still use their powers so you make sure Lynn and Sara get some to wear under their new matching black hooded robes along with matching mythrial daggers. You manage to find full plated Ebony armour with matching full faceplate helms for you, Annie and Dave01rocks, Annie takes a matching Ebony mace and shield to complete the set, you allow Dave01rocks to take a one handed axe while you choose a light mythrial sword to complement the power of your Spectral axe.
Then at your direction one of the carts is loaded with beer, a second is filled with tradeable goods along with the blind Tri-Klops and the handless/jawless Dave01roCks whom you command to guard the cart, the last cart is used for your personal transport with Lynn, Sara and Annie as your companions. Sara asks what the point of this is since there are no horses, Lynn laughs at the question as she has guessed your plan and explains that the zombies will push the carts wherever you command them to. You are fully aware that the carts aren't suitable for the mountainous terrain where you assume a Dwarf Fortress would be but the point is to get away from Zurch with your loot as quickly as possible.
You discover that Zurch was built into the side of the mountain and there is only one road in or out, the road you followed into town. So with the joyful abandon of a despot commanding zombies to push carts laden with beer, treasure, captives and women along a road where you could meet anyone, your cavalcade of insanity departs the crumbling hellhole of what was once the prosperous town of Zurch led by a blindman to a hidden fortress he had only visited once, what could possibly go wrong?
What could possibly go wrong?

Game Monster
From Creep to Boss
You come into being as a low-level monster, the kind heroes chew through like popcorn. You know the drill, whether you're a player yourself or an artificial intelligence, and you're sick of it. You set out on your own quest: to defeat the heroes at any cost (or at least be an epic boss somewhere down the line).
