Chapter 11
The big question here is, do either of them say it out loud?
Yes, Jean does...
"This has been fun, and I want to keep going, but the rain is letting up and someone will probably come to 'rescue' us soon." Jean explains after kissing Annabelle. "We should get our clothes back on and pretend like this never happened, in public anyway, till we can get out of this hick burg and away from your family." Jean declares, and Anna's eyes mist with tears, but Jean wipes them away and says. "Don't cry, I still love you, but we both know your dad is crazy, and if he finds out we are lesbians he could kill us both."
"It's not my dad you have to worry about, it's my mother, she's the fundamentalist lunatic: my dad puts on a tough act but underneath he is really an okay guy." Anna explains, as they both re-don their garments.
Some hour and a half later, after the storm is well and truly passed, a fire/rescue helicopter shows up and takes them both out of the little hollow the ice cream shop rests in, carrying a tub of their favorite flavors in loo of their 'severance pay', and back to the emergency shelter at the high school, their houses being partly flooded, and thus ends their last day of work at the 'Sweet Licks' Ice Cream Parlor...
