Remote control

You find an odd remote control. First there is no compartment for batteries. The buttons are not the usual "play," "stop," "channel," "volume," etc you usually see on a remote but instead the buttons have symbols: an eye, a clock face, a heart with an arrow through it, a sketch of a transparent body, and one button that is just bright pink.

"Ah, a nice find," said the shop keeper. "Most people just think these are ordinary used electronics. That particular remote is very special."

"What does it do?" you ask.

"Well, the button with the eye allows you to read people's thoughts. You point the remote at someone, hold the button in, and you can hear what he or she is thinking. The clock face accelerates your speed, so that the world appears to have stopped. I believe that movie "Clockstoppers" had a similar device. The heart makes the person you point the remote out fall in love with whomever that person is looking at, but the love only lasts 24 hours if it was not meant to be for for that couple. The transparent body makes the person the remote is pointed out become invisible, and the pink button makes the person who the remote is pointed out become sexually aroused."

You press the button with the clock face on it, but nothing happens. You look up at the shopkeeper.

"Do you think I'd allow that to work in here? Please! You could rob me blind! I am immune to these devices as is my shop. You can rent the remote for twenty dollars an hour or buy it for one thousand dollars. If you rent it, you must return it when I tell you or suffer dire consequences."
