Look for Dana.

Making your way through the dense foliage of the deep wood, it doesn't take you long to pick up on the clumsy trail Dana left behind when she stormed off. In retrospect you knew you'd been too brief with her, she deserved better than to be cast aside like that. Well... She was a hero. As far as you were concerned they pretty much all deserved what they got. But Dana was more like your sidekick now than a mere **** girl. Hopefully you could make it up to her... Hm... you have a pretty good idea of where to start.

As you slither along the trail of broken vegetation you come to the startling realization that you'd leveled up when you slaughtered those spiders... and you'd forgotten to check your stats for almost half a day. For shame. You hurriedly bring up the Level Up screen:

Vine Fiend
Lvl: 14
Melee Attack: 30
Ranged Attack: 26
Weakness: Fire
Special Abilities:
Plant - heals 4 HP/sec when raining and regenerates 3 MP/sec when in direct sunlight.
Immune to poison
Earth Wade - can wade through the earth like water.
Absorb - can draw mana from target through contact.
Herbal flow - can heal an ally for 3HP/sec through contact.
Kindred: creatures sharing a type with you receive a bonus to HP and melee attack.

Hm. Pretty standard level up. You're a little disappointed... wait. What's this flashy thing? Mentally clicking on the tab that you realize has probably been there for a while, a subsection of the Level Up screen appears before you.

Specialization:
Thrasher: Ranged abilities are lost in exchange for greatly increased physical strength and melee potential.
Ascendant: Some mobility is lost in exchange for poisonous abilities and the capacity for almost unlimited growth.

Uh... wow. Well damn. Either of these would have been pretty useful over the past few days. You hope the option hasn't been there long.
