Disbelief

My entire body went numb and I couldn't form words anymore. I looked up at Sarah's scared tear streaked face.

"Is...is this a pregnancy test?" I slowly asked. Sarah turned away from me and nodded. My eyes darted to the pregnancy test and back to Sarah.

"Sarah." I said. I waited for her to finally turn her head towards me. "Is this test accurate?"

Once again, she nodded. "I'm a week late on my period." she told me.

"Are you sure the baby is mine?" I questioned. Unable to face the reality, I closed my eyes and waited for the answer.

"You're the only guy I have sex with, so far." she responded.

I slowly laid down on the floor. I brought my hand up to my face and let out a huge sigh.

"We can get an abortion. I mean, we both are not ready to be parents. And you are moving back to California." Sarah continued. Tears were rapidly falling down her face.

"Does your parents know about this?" I asked. Sarah shook her head no. She drew her legs up so she could place her chin on her knees. She hugged her legs tightly as we digest all this information. Sarah closed her eyes to think. The room was quiet for a long time.

I thought she fell asleep until she reopened her eyes and looked at me. "What are we going to do?" she asked me. Her green eyes danced with fear. But, there was a glimmer of something else in there also. Something like...hope?
