Chapter 4 by ADiabolicalDuck

What do you do?

Drop the Bard

Wasting no time considering the best option you launched yourself at the bard’s back causing her to tumble forward onto the spikes. You were so focused on watching the shapely blonde get skewered that you didn’t even attempt to keep your feet under you as you bounced back so that you landed badly, tumbling so that you didn’t see her derezzed. You did hear that delightful ding, the second one in under a minute, as you got more XP. You’re sure you must have leveled up at least once. Now all you had to deal with was the rogue.

The heavily armed rogue.

While you had been dealing with her friend she had drawn weapons, a dagger in her left hand and some sort of vial in her right, though she hadn’t gotten up. If you charged her she would stab you and if you ran away she would throw the vial. There was no escape and no cover, you were going to have to act. Or you could always sit there looking stupid waiting for her to take the lead.

No, you’re going to attack and you’re going to be smart about it. You charge forward aiming not for her body but rather the vial in her hand. You may just be giant rat but you were at full health so if what’s in the vial was enough to take you out then the injured rogue would go down too. She reacted to your movement, slashing at you, but she had expected you to go towards the obvious target so her blade just barely creased your side.

It hurt but not as much as the glass that shattered in your mouth when you bit down on the vial filling the hall and your lungs with a grey mist. With your vision complete obscured and coughing violently you were just able to spit out the glass before you swallowed any. Maybe this was a bad idea.

What does the mist do?
