I invited Casey to the local pizzeria for a slice. Both of us were getting hungry during the rehearsal and nothing beats getting a fresh slice of pizza to fix your appetite. I walked with Casey to the pizzeria, still talking to each other about our favorite TV shows. The chemistry between us was incredible.
We waited at a crosswalk for the light when I felt Casey moving her hands towards mine. Her fingers entwined with mine as she held my hand. Being surprised was an understatement as I was really shocked.
"Didn't she have Joshua as a boyfriend?" I asked myself. I quickly moved my hand away from hers. Casey's face showed utter disappointment and sadness. She looked like she was about to cry any minute now. Fuck, I don't want to cause a scene right now. I quickly move my hand back and held her hand. Casey immediately brightened. I let out a sigh of relief.
Not wanting to drag this out any longer, I asked the one question that is gnawing on my mind. "Casey, are you in a relationship with anyone right now?"
Casey's face immediately darkened. She sighed and timidly said yes.
Sensing that something was wrong, I asked her who was it.
"Some douchebag named Joshua." I was elated at Casey calling Josh a douchebag but also worried about her.
"If he is such a douchebag, why are you dating him?" I asked. The light turned green and we started walking again.
Casey had a scared expression on her face. She seemed hesitant to tell me. "Because..." she paused. She tightened her grip on my hand suddenly. I looked up and saw Joshua standing a few feet away from me, with a disgusted look on his face. His face was red and he was making a beeline towards me.
"Hey acne face! I remember you! Stay away from my cousin, right now! Keep your hands to yourself!" he yelled at me.
Cousin?
I looked at Casey and saw that she had tears coming down her face.
