We followed Mira's fluid steps away from the warm glow of the lounge, past the thumping main dance floors, and into the rear, labyrinthine depths of the club. Here, the wooden floorboards gave way to historic Berlin industrial masonry. The lighting shifted to a deep, almost arterial red, casting long, viscous shadows against the damp brickwork. Down here, the bass was no longer a shrill assault, but a low, rhythmic shudder that settled deep into marrow and bone.
Mira navigated the narrow passageway with somnambulant certainty. On either side, scattered couples clad in heavy leather and latex lay tangled upon low platforms, until she finally came to a halt before a cavernous vaulted chamber.
This was the BDSM wing of the club. The room held a thick, heavy scent of leather grease, disinfectant, and bruised flesh. Heavy iron rings and chains hung anchored to the brick pillars; examination chairs sat angled beneath the dim spotlights, and against the far wall rose a massive Saint Andrew's cross crafted from dense, near-black hardwood. Broad leather cuffs lined with wool-felt and heavy iron carabiners dangled from its four extremities. Mounted along a hanging rack nearby was an array of heavy leather paddles, riding crops, and braided flogs—club fixtures available for general use.
"We have plenty of room here," Mira remarked, turning around and resting her back against the archway. Her boots planted firmly on the concrete floor, their buckles catching a dull glint.
Loona stepped up beside her, surveying the timber cross with an appraising eye, nodding in quiet approval. Then she turned to face me. Her voice cut cold and crisp through the low thrum of the walls:
"Onto the cross, John. Face to the wood. And don't move an inch."
My body obeyed without the slightest hesitation, driven by that deep, mechanical surrender that extinguished every lingering instinct to run. With hollow knees, I approached the dark timber and pressed my chest flat against its cool grain.
Stepping directly behind me, Loona seized the hem of my black mesh shirt with both hands and wrenched the elastic weave up over my head in a single pull. The damp cellar air struck my bare skin like an open palm. My nipples tightened instantly, still marked dark from the bite of the clamps over the past days. Across my shoulder blades lay the pale pink remnants of the crop from Nadja's salon, while on my flank, the nabla and Venus symbol (∇ + ♀) emerged razor-sharp beneath the deep crimson light.
"Hands up, legs apart," Loona commanded.
I extended my arms along the upper crossbeams and placed my feet wide. The metallic snap of the carabiners rang through the vault as Loona set to work with methodical care: first wrapping the thick leather cuffs around my wrists, cinching the buckles tight without quarter, and clipping the rings into the chains. Then she bent low to secure my ankles to the lower beams.
A sharp jolt went through my frame as the chains were drawn taut. I was spread wide, pinned at four points, powerless to retreat a single centimeter or angle my hips away. The position drove the steel micro-casing even more unyieldingly into my pubic bone, the rigid faceplate knocking hard against my glans. Every line of retreat was severed.
Mira pushed off from the archway and paced slowly over to the wall rack. Her eyes scanned the array, passing over broad paddles and wooden dowels, before lingering on a heavy, multi-tailed leather flogger. Its braided falls tapered into thick, dense knots. Lifting the piece from the wall, she let the heavy leather slide through her fingers, testing the balance of the handle in her palm. A deep, dark glint entered her eyes.
"This is a far better fit," Mira said calmly, stepping up to the cross. The supple leather of her boots creaked softly with every pace. She took up a position angled behind me. "If he is already mounted like an anatomical preparation, we should ensure he feels every individual muscle bundle."
Loona crossed her arms over her chest, leaned against a brick pillar, and nodded with a cool, approving smile. "Ten strikes, Mira. Line him up exactly as you want him at the Charité on Monday. He will count aloud."
Stepping half a pace closer, Mira raised the flogger and drew the braided falls with excruciating slowness across my bare back—from the shoulder blades down the spine, tracing past the nabla tattoo along my flank, down over the curves of my buttocks. The touch was agonizingly tender, an ice-cold promise of what was to come.
"For the lies in the lecture hall, John," she whispered softly past my ear.
Then she took a step back and drew her arm wide.
The leather cut the air with a whistling hiss before the falls cracked hard and squarely across my upper back.
The pain erupted like liquid fire across my skin. The clustered tips instantly tore open the faded welts beneath, driving a searing heat deep into the tissue. My entire body arched forward against the impact, but the leather cuffs bit mercilessly into my wrists and ankles, keeping me pinned immovably to the wood. A strangled cry tore through my throat.
"Count!" Loona's voice snapped from the pillar with razor-edged precision.
"One… Mira!" I gasped, pressing my sweat-slicked forehead against the timber.
Mira granted no reprieve. Pivoting smoothly from the hip, she landed the second strike lower down, sweeping over the rib cage and the small of the back. The crack echoed like a gunshot through the vaulted cellar.
"Two… Mira!"
The third and fourth strikes landed with relentless, rhythmic accuracy. Strike three took the lower back; strike four ripped across my left buttock and the base of my thigh. The spread of the multiple tails dispersed the impact over wide swathes of flesh; my skin throbbed in sheets of flame, the humid cellar draft only feeding the burn. Two men in leather harnesses paused by the entrance of the chamber, drawn by the heavy impacts, looking on in silence.
"Five… Mira!" I forced out, hot saliva pooling over my lips.
Mira drew steady breaths through her nose, her rhythm almost athletic. Her cheeks were faintly flushed, her dark eyes flashing with unbridled authority. Shifting the handle to her other hand, she stepped slightly to the side to draw back with greater leverage for the remaining strikes.
Strikes six, seven, and eight tore through the air in rapid succession. The falls crashed without mercy into the burning skin, laying down deep, dark red tracks across my back and seat. With every impact, the chains rattled against the iron eyelets, clattering against the wood. I twisted within the restraints, gasping out the counts—"Six… seven… eight…!"—while my conscious mind gave way completely before the sheer weight of her hand. Pinned to the cross like a slaughtered animal, I hung entirely defenseless beneath the strikes of the woman with whom I normally analyzed medical literature.
"Nine!" I forced past my teeth as the falls struck my right hip and seat with full force.
Mira paused for a single heartbeat. She stepped up intimately close, until the smooth leather of her knee-high boots brushed the inside of my parted thighs. Her free hand came down on my sweat-drenched shoulder, her fingers digging hard into the muscle.
"And the last one, so you remember who you answer to in the seminar room on Monday," she murmured with velvety sharpness directly against my temple.
Stepping back, she put her full weight into the tenth strike, driving it clean across my entire back.
The impact was deafening. The pain burned into my flesh like white-hot iron, driving every scrap of air from my lungs. My pelvis thrust forward in an involuntary spasm, ramming the rigid micro-casing with brutal force against my pubic bone.
"Ten… thank you, Mira… thank you!" I pushed out through a broken, ruined voice.
My entire body shuddered in the bindings. The welts glowed dark red beneath the low spotlights, sweat tracked down my temples, and my heart hammered wildly against the wooden beams. Beneath the physical wreckage, the final conventional barrier within me collapsed: I was no longer a colleague on equal footing. I had been bound, broken, and marked before her very eyes.
Mira lowered the flogger, the leather falls brushing along the concrete floor. A look of deep, settled gratification rested on her lips as she surveyed me from head to foot. Pacing over to Loona, she handed the weapon over.
"A remarkably clear pattern of response," Mira observed in a quiet voice that carried no lingering doubt of her authority. "He offers no resistance now. He takes every strike as given."
"Because he has learned that resistance is pointless," Loona replied with satisfaction. Hanging the flogger back on the rack, she stepped up to the cross. With a few practiced movements, she released the cuffs at my wrists, followed by the straps around my ankles.
My arms dropped limp; my knees gave way instantly. I slid down the timber face, left crouching on all fours upon the cold stone floor, my back and buttocks ablaze with pain while the micro-casing pulsed with a heavy, dull ache.
Mira stepped directly before my face. The rich, pungent scent of her smooth leather filled my lungs, mingling inextricably with the smell of sweat and pain.
"Kneel upright, John," Loona commanded from above. "And thank your colleague properly, as protocol requires."
I forced my trembling thighs into a kneeling posture, straightened my burning torso, and lowered my head low. My lips met the cool, smooth leather covering Mira's instep. Tracing my mouth slowly upward, I kissed the metal buckle at her ankle, lingering there in mute, absolute submission.
"Thank you, Mira… thank you for the correction," I whispered hoarsely against the leather.
Mira looked down at me with quiet detachment. Slowly lifting her foot, she broke the contact and placed the tapered toe of her boot beneath my chin, nudging my head upward. Her dark eyes gleamed with an unreadable depth in the red light.
"Good boy, colleague," she whispered, her smile cutting straight to my core. "Monday morning at eight in the lecture hall. And every second you spend on that wooden chair, you will feel who makes the diagnosis from now on."
Mira's boot toe remained beneath my chin for several agonizing heartbeats. She drank in the moment, reading the total surrender in my dilated pupils, before drawing her foot back with a low, smooth creak of the leather.
"Get up, John," Loona ordered coolly.
I hauled myself up from the cold concrete. My knees trembled like aspen leaves, and the slightest movement sent searing waves of heat across my back and seat. The welts from the flogger pulsed in time with my racing heart, while the steel micro-casing drove hard against my battered pubic bone with every extension of my pelvis.
Picking up my sheer mesh top from the floor, Loona shook it out and pulled it back over my head with practiced indifference. The elastic weave settled like liquid fire across the raised, raw ridges. I bit down on my lower lip to trap the strangled groan behind my teeth. The black fabric clung skin-tight; the dark crimson tracks on my flesh showed clearly through the fine mesh—an open, undeniable testament to what had transpired in the vault.
"The chain stays with me," Loona said, turning to Mira as she snapped the carabiner back into the velvet choker at my throat. "But you walk at my side."
"With pleasure," Mira replied smoothly. A faint, triumphant smile played on her lips as she casually swept a dark curl from her forehead.
Leaving the BDSM area behind, we climbed the stairs back into the warm, pulsing heart of the club. The contrast was staggering. The bass from the main room hit us once more like physical blows, yet the driving low end of the music blurred in my head with the steady, sharp throb across my skin.
The gazes of the crowd were even more unrelenting now. Where I had previously appeared merely as a well-appointed escort, the discipline was now visible from ten paces away: my cautious, rigid stride, the damp sheen of flesh beneath the mesh, the stark lines of the tattoo (∇ + ♀) along my flank, and my lowered gaze pinned directly between the heels of Loona and Mira. We passed a group of women on an elevated platform who let out an appreciative whistle, shooting Mira a knowing grin. Mira offered only a cool, effortless nod in return—as though leading broken men on chains through Berlin nights were second nature to her.
In the lounge, the two women made for an open booth.
"Kneel beside the table, John," Loona directed. "Hands behind your back. Don't move."
I sank to my knees, holding my torso bolt upright to avoid any contact with the firm leather padding of the banquette. My seat burned like open embers. I was living furniture, mute and functional.
Loona and Mira settled into the booth. The distance between them had evaporated completely; the shared discipline had broken down every barrier between the aloof flatmate and the brilliant medical student.
"He has a remarkably high threshold," Mira analyzed, accepting her fresh drink and crossing her legs. The toe of her boot came to rest naturally against my knee, maintaining a steady, light pressure. "Most would have yielded after the third strike. But he swallows it down. He practically craves that severity to clear his head."
"That is precisely his problem," Loona replied, taking a sip. "He overthinks everything. Left to his own devices, he stagnates. You have to demand everything from his body so his mind learns to obey."
"A fascinating form of therapy," Mira smirked, her dark eyes flashing with a dangerous edge. "And one that should certainly be continued at the Charité. I have no patience left for half-measures in the dissection lab."
Shortly before four in the morning, Nadja reappeared. Her chestnut hair was lightly disheveled, her dark lipstick smudged, her doe-brown eyes holding a muted gleam in the half-light. Her wrap skirt sat crooked, the heavy vanilla scent now overlaid with the traces of sweat and leather from others.
"There you are," she said with a raspy, satisfied laugh, collapsing onto the banquette beside Loona. Her gaze dropped to me immediately, taking in the fiery welts beneath my shirt and the rigid stillness of my posture. "Oh… I see you found your own brand of fun. Who worked him over like that?"
"His charming colleague," Loona answered, offering a thin, approving smile in Mira's direction. "She knows her craft."
Nadja tilted her head, giving Mira a deep, appreciative look before raising her glass. "Respect. The boy looks like he has entirely forgotten what day it is."
The night at the club was drawing to a close. The music grew more expansive, more hypnotic, while the haze thinned over the empty glasses on the tables.
Mira set her glass down and reached for her clutch. Drawing out her phone, she unlocked it and looked directly at Loona.
"We shouldn't leave this as a one-off, Loona," she said evenly, carrying that businesslike resolve she normally displayed during case presentations. "I have him at the university all week. If we coordinate, he will never lose his bearings for a second."
A bright, almost triumphant smile touched Loona's lips. It was the exact alliance she had intended: sealing John's world so completely that no refuge remained.
"An excellent suggestion," Loona agreed.
She gave Mira her number. I remained kneeling motionless beside them, eyes fixed on the floor, listening to the rhythmic tap of nails against the screens. With every keystroke, the perimeter tightened around me.
"I just sent you a quick 'Hi,'" Mira said, sliding her phone away, meeting Loona's gaze with firm intent. "Next Friday? After the practicals? We could meet for a drink at my place in Schöneberg first. Then I can show you how he carried himself throughout the week."
"Friday works perfectly for me," Loona accepted, her green eyes dark with anticipation. "And until then, he belongs entirely to you in the seminar room. Keep him on a short leash, Mira."
"Count on it," Mira murmured.
Rising, she smoothed down her leather top and stepped closer to me. Looking down, she lifted her right foot and pressed the firm toe of her boot squarely against my thigh—right where the skin burned raw from the chafe of the welts. She bore down with noticeable weight, locking my entire frame in tension.
"Get plenty of rest this weekend, John," she whispered softly, so only I could catch the words. "You will need every ounce of your focus on Monday. See you at eight."
Withdrawing her foot, she offered the two women a nod of cool elegance and turned away. The creak of her boots was swallowed by the drifting crowd of remaining clubgoers.
When we stepped out into the damp, cold Berlin morning air on Köpenicker Straße half an hour later, the drizzle seemed almost to hiss against the burning skin of my back. The taxi was waiting. Loona drew the long coat over my shoulders, pulled the zipper up to the velvet choker at my throat, and looked at me one final time.
"The mask has dropped, John," she said softly, resting her hand on the back of my neck, feeling the cold ring of metal beneath. "Starting Monday, there is nowhere left to hide at the Charité."
She gently pushed me into the cab. As the door clicked shut, the car began rolling through the grey twilight of Berlin. Here I was now—marked, sealed, and with the unshakable certainty that, from this moment on, my life had two mistresses.
