Konohamaru Takes Naruto To His "First" Day At The Academy
After Konohamaru had delivered him to his first day where had arrived to the great joy of his whole class, Naruto was forced by his bosses teammates to stand up an hour early before academy, so he would start his new life of right. Konhamaru had been clear before his departure.
"No goofing off while I am gone, you got that Naru-chan? I told Udon and Moegi to keep a close watch on you while I am off training with Jiraya. On account of your rather hefty backslide your boss needs to be prepared to keep you safe from those big bad Akatuski guys you got that?
If you get a glowing report from them by the time I return and we are done with our Chunin exams, I will take you out on a bit of an internship, as I promised. Who knows? Maybe we even find that Uchiha kid you promised your cute pink haired teammate to bring back, huh? Wouldn't you like that? I know Sakura and Kakashi are gone on a long mission for now, wouldnt it be nice you could tell them while you wont be able to be part of Team 7 anymore thanks to your boss you at least got Sasuke back?"
Naruto had just awkwardly nodded his head and waved like a complete dork to the great laughter of his classmates as he watched Konohamaru depart in a flash. God, his encounter with his former team was a meeting he was not looking forward too.
To say that Naruto had struggled with accepting his new reality in the Academy afterwards would have been quite the understatement. Granny Tsunade had been crushed when she heard how far he had fallen thanks to his new boss.
The seals on his body had done such an effective job at stealing most good qualities of him away, that the Academy was the only realistic chance for him to ever become a Ninja again.
And so, she had sadly accepted that the boy she considered as her grandson had somehow returned from his training trip only to end up infinitely weaker than when he had left.
The pervy sage had been far less sympathetic and openly showed Naruto his disappointment in his regression, even though not even he really understood why it had happened.
The sealing techniques of Konohamaru had faded after he was successful at transferring both his own chakra as well as that of the Nine Tailed Fox over to the young Sarutobi.
Now that the deed was done, there was no turning back. Konohamaru and what he had done to Naruto would never be discovered. The usually red chakra thanks to the seal had been transformed into a natural blue shade, making it appear to everybody else that Konohamaru during his puberty had simply unlocked chakra that surpassed that of even the first Hokage.
In fact his ascension in terms of power had been so great, and the fall of Naruto in turn so severe, that Jiraya had officially announced he would be taking Konohamaru under his wing instead, this time taking his training much more serious than he did with Naruto, leaving the blonde haired teen alone in
Konoha while his new boss and former teacher went to some mountain for a month.
Konohamaru had made it clear to Naruto that his teammates would routinely check up on him so he behaved and integrated well into the Academy lifestyle while he was gone to get some real training to prove to him how he could learn more in a month from Jiraya than Naruto had in three years.
The transference seal also ensured that Naruto had to integrated into the academy in the same spot that he had initially left it as. Namely as the absolute dead last of the whole. Only even worse than back in his childhood.
The transference seal had not only taken his chakra, but most of his muscle strength and courage as well. His Taijustu that previously had at least been passable and his never give up attitude that had carried him through his lowest points were gone now.
His adaption to his extremely low amount of chakra was also something that he would likely never be able to fully move past. It was a night and day difference between what he used to be able to do and what he was stuck with now.
Even the weakest and wimpiest civilian brats in the academy sniffed out his insecurities and weakness upon first meeting him. He could beat nobody in a fight anymore, and mostly felt himself unable to even fight back out of fear usually just letting his opponent pummel him in training sessions until they took pity on him.
The youngest and wimpiest kid prior to him, Moroni, had started to form a sort of "friendship" with him in his first week. The black haired tyke had only reached up to his knees, but as unbelievable as it sounded, he quickly became his "bodyguard" in class. Mostly because being around Naruto meant he looked much better in comparison.
He made Naruto do his homework as well as all tests leaving Naruto firmly established as the classes dead last even in the written exams since he had barely any time to finish his own stuff.
He also constantly challenged him to contest to demonstrate the lack of skill he now had. Unlike his other class members, he however never actually hurt him all that much. He still beat him in fights and strength contests, but he never pummeled him just for fun.
And as sad as it was, that sort of treatment was a big improvement to him right now. Even if he had wanted to stop their current arrangement, due to his courage also being a shadow of its former self, he did not like his chances of denying Moroni anything.
While a couple of days ago he was still called Moroni the Moron by everybody, he now had gotten a lot more confident since his new buddy had drawn most of the attention away from him while also allowing Moroni to establish he no longer was at the bottom of the class anymore.
Prior to their little arrangement Naruto had been so desperate that he had actually attempt to get into contact with the Fox to ask for some chakra to help him somehow get out of his current situation.
To his great shock the giant fur ball living in his stomach had been shrunken into the size of a regular fox. And judging by its suddenly low intelligence and meek nature as well as the sudden lack of any noticeable chakra, whatever had happened to Naruto had also happened to his companion and turned him into a cute normal sized fox.
Naruto then became aware of the truly all encompassing nature of his
situation. If Kyuubi was affected as well by whatever had happened to him, the chance of it ever reverting grew ever more slim.
The clothes that marked him as a huge fanboy kid that Udon and Moegi made sure he wore each day made him look even more out of place and juvenile than he felt, also not exactly helping his standing in the class all that much.
And he found himself struggling with the fact that despite hating himself for it, he desperately hoped Konohamaru came back and took him on that "internship" program he promised they would go together once he returned and finished with the Chunin exam in six weeks from now.
Because in comparison with being the joke of the academy, at least travelling the countryside with his new boss might see him only gawked and laughed at instead of receiving a beating every day. And the of chance of at least fulfilling his last proper promise to Sakura in a roundabout way made him hopeful too, sicne his big dream of becming Hokage had been utterly dashed to pieces.
At the level he was at now, it would take him years to even graduate the academy again, not to mention that ever successfully passing the Chunin exam became a impossibility.
His big dream now was quite a big downgrade, namely hoping that what Udon and Moegi told him was true about how if he was a good little fanboy while Konohamaru was away and started to accept his role, they would inform Konohamaru of his good behavior and put in a word for him that would see him be "protected" by his boss from the sort of punching bag status he currently held.
From promising Hokage candidate to eternal dead last back at the academy because of some unexplainable freak accident erased his three years of training as well as the decade of regular development prior to it.
He had a hard time deciding what he felt was worse, taking his current torment for a full month while meekly doing as he was told by his bosses friends, or try and find some way to find out what was wrong with him and risk learning he was stuck like this forever.
Unlike in the original timeline, he also had nobody that just left him alone either or was at least vaguely kind. He also dreaded the moment where Sakura and Kakashi would learn of his fate, having recently left towards a mission of some kind.
And as he was reminded by Moroni-sama as he had been forced to call him (and slowly began to think of him as too) "you need to let that old life of yours go Naru-chan. You are my little buddy now, and your bosses friends made sure to tell me about some of your... isuess with that.
Look I get it, you went away with one of the Sanin for three years only to arrive way weaker than when you left. But whatever happened, its not like you can change it.
You either accept you are a loser now, or you agonize over it forever!"
Not exactly comforting words, but they were not false either even if Naruto didnt know it at the time. What had happened to him could not be simply reversed. You had to have a certain character and power for the seal to even begin the transference process. Konohamaru already had been a respectable Ninja prior to the start of the transfer.
Naruto now was only vaguely able to even become a Ninja down the line. Nobody could give him his old powers back, and sadly, Konohamaru also was the only person who knew seals well enough to pull it off. And his boss after getting a taste of this kind of power would have never done this regardless.
As Konohamaru learned the Sage arts of Jiraya in record speed, he only had his actions validated. This was how it was always meant to be. Him on top, and Naruto as his underling that desperately waited for the return of his boss to the village so he could fanboy over him!
