"All debts owed to the auction house here are enforced by the magics of this courtyard. Even if I were to allow you to go, you have already agreed upon the sum in your bid, and similarly I have agreed upon giving you the girl. Now that you have the girl, you must pay the sum." The man presses his palms together as he explains. His speech is slow and careful, and you wait for a few heavy moments, expecting him to continue.

"Well, I own nothing that I can give you. Since Astridr is now mine surely I could just sell her back for an equal sum, and you could offer her to that other man."

"Master No!" Astridr begins, before a sharp look from Cyprian silences her.

"Perhaps, though I have no interest in buying the girl I've just sold." His tone becomes more strict and authoritative.

"Then I'll re-auction her!" You stammer, fearful of loosing your fresh start and modest home in this new world.

"Certainly sir, but I'm afraid the fees are quite steep for those that don't belong to a slavers guild. I doubt you'd get half of what you payed for her."

"But I haven't payed a thing! Surely we can come to an agreement?" Your plea becomes increasingly frustrated. Somewhere along the way Astridr has clasped your arm, holding you tightly, and is gazing at the man as if sharing your concerns.

The man scratches considerately at his chin. "Perhaps... Though if you're incapable of payment, perhaps not..." After long seconds of silent deliberation Cyprian declares "I've decided..."
