Where does our story start?
On a rooftop, overlooking the city.
The resonant, melodic tone of the small golden bell was, right now, the loudest sound in the world to Catalina Vega. It wasn't a mere jingle; it was a deep, fundamental vibration that resonated down to her bones, plucking at something deep within her. It told her danger was near. It told her that a fight was about to happen.
Catalina was a twenty-four-year-old woman whose form was a testament to the work she had done to inherit her place in the family as this generation's hero: Catseye. A title that had been exchanged from mother to daughter for generations.
Standing at 5'9", her body was lean, with muscles sculpted from years of training. Her hips were wide, and her bust betrayed her athletic build due to its large size. Her skin was a deep, warm tan. It was smooth and flawless, devoid of scars or blemishes, a fact her mother teased, showing that she was still 'wet behind the ears'. Her hair, a thick, unruly mane of bluish-black, was cut short for practicality, but she let it get longer than her mother or aunts advised so that she could still doll it up when she was off-duty.
Her costume, while new and before now never worn, was inherited from her mother and redesigned a little by herself. It was a dark green, sleek faux-leather two-piece that hugged her fit frame like a second skin. The suit emphasized the powerful curve of her shoulders, the defined taper of her waist, and the strong, capable lines of her thighs. A utility belt sat low, and currently empty, on her hips. She wore a mask, resembling a cat's head, that covered the upper half of her face and left her mouth exposed. The final touch was the magical heirloom passed down generation to generation in her family, which was a magic bell that shared its mystical powers with its owner, which was secured around her neck on a repurposed collar.
There was a loud crash, and the sound of shattering glass, finally silencing the ringing of the bell.
This is it, Catalina thought, her heart hammering away against her ribs. Time to be a hero.
