The meeting continues
Sarah explains the theme for the advertisement
Sarah’s tone softened slightly as she moved to the heart of the campaign.
“The theme underneath all of it is simple, but it has to feel true,” she said, looking between Mike and Maya. “A loving, romantic couple already has that feeling with each other—the sense of being cared for, of being known, of someone who will simply be there. What we’re saying is that the store can give them the same feeling.”
She gestured lightly toward the screen, where the earlier lifestyle images still glowed.
“When the two of you plan a list together at the kitchen table, or walk the aisles side by side, or bring a delivery inside and put the shopping away—those moments should carry the same quiet warmth you already have with each other. The store becomes an extension of that care. It knows what you need. It shows up. It makes the everyday feel looked-after in the same way a good partner does.”
Maya felt Mike’s thumb brush once more across her knuckles under the table. The small contact kept the unfinished heat from the afternoon quietly flickering in her core. She stayed close against his side, shoulder resting against his arm, exactly the picture of the loving, romantic couple Sarah was describing. The campaign’s theme wrapped itself around the practice they had done and made it feel even more necessary—almost virtuous.
Sarah continued, her voice warm with conviction.
“That’s why the chemistry between you matters so much. Viewers have to believe the two of you already give each other that feeling of being cared for and secure. Only then does the idea work—that the store can offer the same steady, reliable presence. It’s not about big dramatic gestures. It’s about the small, consistent ways you stay close, look after each other, and move through ordinary life together. The store simply becomes part of that same emotional language.”
She smiled, clearly pleased with how cleanly the concept sat.
“So every piece we shoot—whether it’s a television spot, a billboard, a social mini-story, or later the at-home planning and delivery films—needs to carry that same feeling. Two people who are genuinely for each other, and a store that wants to be for them in the same way.”
David nodded from his seat, the board members murmuring quiet agreement.
Sarah looked back at Mike and Maya, her expression open and expectant.
“Does that theme sit well with you both? The idea that the relationship energy you already share is what makes the whole campaign work?”
Mike’s hand remained steady around Maya’s under the table. She felt the low, restless need he had left unfinished answer the contact, and she kept her body angled toward him, ready to let the closeness they had practised speak for the loving, romantic couple the agency wanted to see.
