Ethan need the bathroom

Mia and I made our way back through the crowd.

The music seemed even louder after being outside, and people had filled in the space we’d left.

I looked around.

“I’m gonna use the bathroom.”

“I know where it is,” Mia said.

Before I could answer, she reached for my hand.

“Come on.”

I followed her through the hallway and up a short flight of stairs. She pushed open a door and motioned for me to go inside.

I stepped through.

Mia followed.

Then I heard the lock click.

I turned around.

“Mia?”

She was standing against the door, smiling.

“What?”

“You locked the door.”

“I know.”

I looked at her for a moment, trying to figure out what she was doing.

She gave me a playful shrug.

“You said you needed the bathroom.”

“Yeah.”

“I thought I’d show you a little privacy.”

I laughed awkwardly.

“Okay…”

She stayed by the door, watching me.

The noise of the party was still faintly audible through the walls, but suddenly the room felt much quieter.

Mia tilted her head.

“So…”

“So?”

She smiled.

“I guess we’re alone now.”

I didn’t answer immediately.

For the first time that night, the line she’d been testing suddenly felt a lot more real.

And I wasn’t sure what she expected me to do next.
